Summary: Holy Ground is where God is and God is in Ordinary Places, God is with Ordinary People, God is there when there is an Ordinary Purpose, God is with us when there is an Ordinary Problem, and God is with us with an Ordinary Proclamation.

8-28-2011 "Holy Ground” Exodus 3:1-15

Holy Ground is God moments, God presences, God movments.

1. Holy Ground Happens in Ordinary Places.

A. Holy Ground happens in ordinary places

"Now Moses was tending the flock of Jethro his father-in-law".

(Exodus 3:1).

B. Holy Ground happens while walking and you know you must make a change in your life.

C. Holy Ground happens when reading a book and the awe moment happens something comes alive

D. Holy Ground happens when you are so depressed and you receive a card that says "I am thinking of you"

E. Holy Ground Happens when one goes to college and "da" I realize what effort and sacrifices others have made so I could be in college.

2. Holy Ground Happens with Ordinary People.

A. Moses was a Simple Shepherd Moses was tending the flock (Ex 3:1)

B. Moses was unqualified to do the Task

"Moses said to the LORD, "O Lord, I have never been eloquent, neither in the

past nor since you have spoken to your servant. I am slow of speech and

tongue." (Exodus 4:10).

C. Moses was a Coward and certainly unwilling

But Moses said to God, "Who am I, that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the

Israelites out of Egypt?" Ex.3:11). But Moses said, "O Lord, please send

someone else to do it." (Ex. 4:13).

D. Moses was a real sinner just like us maybe even worse

He saw an Egyptian beating a Hebrew. 12Glancing this way and that and

seeing no one, he killed the Egyptian and hid him in the sand. (Ex. 2:12).

3. Holy Ground Happens when there is Ordinary Purpose.

The LORD said, "I have indeed seen the misery of my people in Egypt.

(God say’s I have seen the misery).

I have heard them crying out because of their slave drivers, and I am concerned

about their suffering. (God says, I have heard and I am concerned) 8So I have

come down to rescue them from the hand of the Egyptians and to bring them up

out of that land into a good and spacious land, a land flowing with milk and honey-

(God says I have come own to rescue) -the home of the Canaanites, Hittites,

Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites. (Ex 3:7-8).

4. Holy Ground Happens when there is a Pharaoh or Problem.

So now, go. I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring my people the Israelites out of

Egypt." (Ex 3:10).

5. Holy Ground happens when there is the need of Proclamation.

A. We should proclaim it like Isaiah

I heard the voice of the Lord saying, "Whom shall I send? And who will go for

us?" And I said, "Here am I. Send me!" (Isaiah 6:9).

B. Holy Ground happens if we take the Position we need to take, it is "Here am I " send me

4When the LORD saw that he had gone over to look, God called to him

From within the bush, "Moses! Moses!" And Moses said, "Here I am."

C. Holy Ground happens if we pattern our life to preserve Life’s.

So I have come down to rescue them from the hand of the Egyptians

(Ex 3:8). (God desired to preserve life).

In conclusion: Don’t forget church Holy Ground happens in Ordinary Places, with Ordinary People, when there is an Ordinary Purpose, when there is an Ordinary Problem, and when there is an Ordinary Proclamation to be made.
