I. EXORDIUM:

When was the last time you cried for help and the LORD, our Redeemer have helped you out?

II. AUDIENCE PROFILE:

Believers

III. OBJECTIVES:

To prove that GOD, our LORD and Redeemer is always at the background teaching and leading us along the paths to follow.

IV. TEXT:

Isaiah 48:17 (New Living Translation, Second Edition)

This is what the Lord says— your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: “I am the Lord your God, who teaches you what is good for you and leads you along the paths you should follow.

V. THESIS:

The LORD, the HOLY ONE of Israel both teaches and leads us along the paths to follow.

VI. TITLE:

HOLY ONE of Israel, My Redeemer

VII. EXPLICATION:

A. Author: Isaiah - son of Amos, prophesied during reigns of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz and Hezekiah.

B. Isaiah is regarded as greatest Old Testament prophet: (1) preeminently the prophet of redemption, (2) passages in this book are among the finest in literature.

VIII. MAIN BODY:

A. What makes the Holy One of Israel our Redeemer?

1. The LORD is my GOD (Exodus 6:7, Luke 10:27)

Exodus 6:7 (New Living Translation, Second Edition)

I will claim you as my own people, and I will be your God. Then you will know that I am the Lord your God who has freed you from your oppression in Egypt.

Since the time of Jews being slaves in Egypt, the LORD our GOD have already claimed them to be GOD's people and of course, GOD as their only GOD who freed them from slavery of the Egyptians.

Luke 10:27 (New Living Translation, Second Edition)

The man answered, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your strength, and all your mind.’ And, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’”

And we need to love GOD with all our heart, sould and all our strength and mind, nothing, no one or even ourselves must not occupy that place only GOD alone.

2. The LORD teaches me what is good. (1 John 2:27, Mark 10:17, Colossians 1:6)

1 John 2:27 (New Living Translation, Second Edition)

But you have received the Holy Spirit, and he lives within you, so you don’t need anyone to teach you what is true. For the Spirit teaches you everything you need to know, and what he teaches is true—it is not a lie. So just as he has taught you, remain in fellowship with Christ.

GOD, our Father, Son and Holy Spirit teaches us good things to do as our fruit for Him.

Mark 10:17 (New Living Translation, Second Edition)

As Jesus was starting out on his way to Jerusalem, a man came running up to him, knelt down, and asked, “Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?”

Even when the LORD JESUS CHRIST, GOD THE SON, is on this earth 2000 years ago and was 100% human being, was called a Good Teacher. Not experience or not our own capabilities to learn thought us good things in life, but only GOD have thought us to bear fruit doing good works.

Colossians 1:6 (New Living Translation, Second Edition)

This same Good News that came to you is going out all over the world. It is bearing fruit everywhere by changing lives, just as it changed your lives from the day you first heard and understood the truth about God’s wonderful grace.

Our changed lives are proofs that GOD made a difference in our lives by teaching us to bear fruit by doing good works after we understood GOD's wonderful Grace.

3. The LORD leads me along the paths I should follow (Psalms 119:35, Proverbs 3:6, Proverbs 4:14, Psalms 1:6, Psalms 73:24)

Psalms 119:35 (New Living Translation, Second Edition)

Make me walk along the path of your commands, for that is where my happiness is found.

Proverbs 3:6 (New Living Translation, Second Edition)

Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.

Proverbs 4:14 (New Living Translation, Second Edition)

Don’t do as the wicked do, and don’t follow the path of evildoers.

Psalms 1:6 (New Living Translation, Second Edition)

For the Lord watches over the path of the godly, but the path of the wicked leads to destruction.

The problem with paths, is that there are so many paths to follow, the path of GOD which leads to happiness and the path of evildoers, sad to say, which leads to destruction. Only the LORD GOD knows the paths that we need to take to give us His will and so we end up on that path doing His Perfect will, but it has to initiate from the LORD GOD by leading us along in the right path that He wanted us to follow which in the end will lead us to our final destiny, a glorious destiny.
