Summary: Giving all to Christ Jesus.
HOW CAN WE DO THIS?
7 things we must do for the cause of Christ.
1. We must suffer PERSECUTION.
Matt. 5: 10 Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
12Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.
2. We will suffer HATE.
Matt. 10:20 For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you.
21And the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death.
22And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.
3. Some LOSS OF LIFE.
Matt. 10 : 39 He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.
4. RENUNCIATION of worldly treasures.
Matt.19:29 And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name’s sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life.
5. Much SUFFERING.
Acts 9:16 For I will shew him how great things he must suffer for my name’s sake
6. Loss of REPUTATION .
1st Cor. 4:10 We are fools for Christ’s sake, but ye are wise in Christ; we are weak, but ye are strong; ye are honourable, but we are despised.
7. Some suffer DEATH.
2nd Cor. 4:9 Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;
10Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body.
11For we which live are always delivered unto death for Jesus’ sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh.
