How Many Apples Are In The Seed?

John 1:35-42

35 Again, the next day, John stood with two of his disciples.

36And looking at Jesus as He walked, he said, "Behold the Lamb of God!" 37The two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus.

38Then Jesus turned, and seeing them following, said to them, "What do you seek?" They said to Him, "Rabbi" (which is to say, when translated, Teacher), "where are You staying?"

39He said to them, "Come and see." They came and saw where He was staying, and remained with Him that day (now it was about the tenth hour). 40One of the two who heard John speak, and followed Him, was Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother.

41He first found his own brother Simon, and said to him, "We have found the Messiah" (which is translated, the Christ).

42And he brought him to Jesus. Now when Jesus looked at him, He said, "You are Simon the son of Jonah. You shall be called Cephas" (which is translated, A Stone).

How many seeds are in this apple?

Well, let’s find out!

(Cut the apple open and count them)

So...there are ___ seeds in this apple!

Now...how many apples are in this seed?

We will never know...will we?

Allow me to tell you about Edward Kimball.

Ed Kimball was a Sunday school teacher.

One day, a doctor told Kimball he was going to die.

He had very little time to live.

So he went out to lead all of his Sunday school students to Jesus.

One young man, in particular,

didn’t seem to understand what the Gospel was about.

So Kimball went to the shoe store where he was stocking shelves.

He met him in the stock room

and told him the importance of a personal relationship with Jesus.

That young man was Dwight L. Moody!

In the stockroom on that Saturday,

Dwight Lyman Moody accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior.

In his lifetime, Moody touched two continents for God.

Untold thousands came to faith in Jesus Christ!

The Moody Bible Institute educates hundreds of missionaries...

preachers and Bible teachers...every year.

The Moody Broadcasting Network provides 24 hours a day

Christian programming over hundreds of Christian radio stations.

There is also the Moody Press publishing company in Chicago...

which prints thousands of Christian books.

There’s no way to know how many souls have been saved...

because of the work of Dwight L. Moody.

But the story doesn’t end there.

Point #1. TO LEAD OTHERS TO JESUS, YOU MUST HAVE A PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP WITH JESUS.

Look at Verses 37, 40

37 And the two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus.

40 One of the two which heard John speak, and followed him, was Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother.

I like that word "followed"!

Saved people experience a change of life.

Jesus says in John 3:3

"Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God."

Jesus continues on in John 3:7

7Do not marvel that I said to you, ’You must be born again.’

Have you been born again?

Before you can tell others about Jesus,

you must know what you are talking about!

You have to be saved before you can share Jesus!

Saved people have a confidence of Salvation.

2 Corinthians 13:5 says:

Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?--unless indeed you are disqualified.

The soul winner must have his/her salvation nailed down.

When there is a lack of confidence in one’s own salvation,

there will be a lack of power in one’s witness.

Is it possible to know for sure that you’re saved?.

1 John 5:13 says:

These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.

Saved people have a clear testimony.

You must understand your own salvation experience.

Only then can you tell others what has happened in your life.

Your most powerful illustration of salvation

is your own personal experience with Jesus Christ.

Andrew was able to share with Peter...

because he had already met Jesus Christ.

So was the Demon possessed man in Mark 5:20

And he departed and began to proclaim in Decapolis all that Jesus had done for him; and all marveled.

I’m glad you folk are saved,

but I can’t testify of your experience.

I can tell you, however, what Jesus did for me!

Transition:

Under D.L. Moody, another man’s heart was touched for God.

Moody was preaching in Great Britain.

A lady teacher was so moved by his preaching

that she told it to her class.
