I CAN ONLY IMAGINE

(5 TRUTHS ABOUT HEAVEN)

Place: Allendale Baptist

Date: October 28,2001 (GREAT DAY ALLENDALE)

TEXT: Hebrews 11:13-16

Introduction:

Hebrews chapter 11 is often called “the faith chapter” or “the hall of faith”. These Biblical characters, real people, just like you & I, were called & used by God. But the one most important thing they all had in common was their faith. Faith that God would accomplish what He had called them to do. They all desired God’s will to be done.

But each was all seeking a home. A dwelling place, they could call their own. This verse says they were seeking or desiring a heavenly country. God has prepared a city, for those who’ve placed their faith in Him. Some call it glory, some call it the New Jerusalem, and some call it Beulah Land. The Bible calls it an indiscernible city… Heaven

If you don’t mind I’ll just talk out loud for a while about the things I can only imagine of heaven…

I. IMAGINE THE BEAUTY OF HEAVEN

A. Rev.21: 1-22:7 tell us that God spared no expense in the cost of heaven.

B. The mansions in heaven;

C. The pearly gates (Joke about)

D. The streets of gold

E. The light of heaven as bright as crystal.

F. The foundation 12 layers of precious stones.

I CAN ONLY IMAGINE!!!

II. IMAGINE THE LIFE IN HEAVEN.

A. I Timothy 4:8 say, ”having the promise of life that is to come.”

B. Life in heaven will be indescribable.

C. ETERNAL LIFE – Each one of us will experience eternal life it’s just a matter of where you will spend it.

I CAN ONLY IMAGINE!!!

III. IMAGINE THE PERFECTION IN HEAVEN

A. Read Revelation 22:3

B. A.T.Pierson summarizes these verses

“And there shall be no more curse,”

Perfect sinless ness;

“But the throne of God & the Lamb shall be in it,”

Perfect government;

“And His servants shall serve Him,”

Perfect service;

“They shall see His face,”

Perfect communion;

“And His name shall be on their foreheads,”

Perfect resemblance,

“And there shall be no night there,”

Perfect blessedness;

“And they shall reign forever & ever;”

Perfect glory.

C. The Bible also teaches no pain, no hurting, no tears in heaven

I CAN ONLY IMAGINE!!!

IV. IMAGINE THE WORSHIP IN HEAVEN

A. Read Isaiah 6:1-4

B. THEY’RE HAVING CHURCH!!!

V. IMAGINE THE GLORY OF HEAVEN.

A. Exodus chapter 33 tells us the story of Moses receiving the Ten Commandments from God. There is an interesting request Moses makes to God; he asked to be shown the glory of God. I believe what he asks am I want to see you. God replies no man shall see me and live.

B. As I have read this many times I tell myself this is not a threat to Moses it’s a promise to me.

C. One day I will see The Only, True & Living God… Face to Face… Be in His presence…

WHAT A DAY THAT WILL BE WHEN MY JESUS I SHALL SEE WHEN I LOOK UPON THE FACE THE ONE WHO SAVED ME BY HIS GRACE WHEN HE TAKES ME BY THE HAND AND LEADS ME THROUGH THE PROMISED LAND… WHAT A DAY GLORIOUS DAY THAT WILL BE…

I’m going to heaven… What about you?

God loves you…

He gave His only begotten Son as a ransom for your sins…

Jesus died; shed His blood for the redemption of your sins…

How do I get to heaven?

By FAITH in Jesus Christ…………….
