Summary: This traditional message of the gospel(good news), is still effective today.

Let us consider the time before the birth of Jesus Christ. After the book of Malachi, centuries have passed by. The Jews had based their expectations on numerous Old Testament promises. Over the years various figures had came and went, some even claiming to be the Messiah, others were regarded by the people as likley candidates. But non proved convincing. This is probably why the angels had to make a guest appearance, for the simple fact that the appearance of another human being most likely would not have convinced anyone about the birth of Christ. None quite fulfilled the expectations of either the religious scholars who carefully studied the scriptures.

Many events have taken place with--in those four hundred silent years. When they say silent years, they speak of God not communicating with mankind period. Many eras had taken place. The Persian era, which dominated the middle east, the Greek era, with Alexander the great, the Egyptian era, the Syrian era, the Maccabean era, and finaly the Roman era. My God all this went on between the Old and New Testaments, I would be dying to hear some good news by then.

We go through so much in our present lives today, the many changes we go through is enough to depress any of us. Only God knows when its time for a relief from so much depression. Celebrations are one way to take the load off our minds. It will help lift the burden of sufferings that are present in our lives. (temporarily)

This was not just any kind of news, this was goods news! Because of the astonishing appearance of the angels of God. No angel was heard from in centuries, and then all of a sudden, angels appear to some shepherds in the fields, "Behold I bring you good tidings of great joy"

I don’t know about you, but I’m tired of hearing about bad news all the time; I need to hear about some good news. You got bad news, keep it to yourself. I got some good new!

Luke 2:11. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord.

Isaiah 9:6-7 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given, and the government shall be upon His shoulder, and His name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, the Mighty God, the Everlasting Father, the Prince of peace. Of the increase of His government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon His kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgement and with justice from henceforth even forever. The zeal of Lord of host will perform this.

Even Zacharias was told by the angel Gabriel. Luke 1:19 And the angel answering said unto him, I am Gabriel, that stand in the presence of God, and am sent to speak unto thee, and to show thee these glad tidings.

And Jesus Christ in his adulthood continued to fulfill the scriptures, Luke 8:1. And it came to pass afterward, that he went throughout evry city and village, preaching and showing the glad tidings of the kingdom of god, and the twelve with him/

Good news brings about a celebration every time. Some of us was sick and could not get well. sin had some of us laid out on a stretcher, and folk gave up on some of us. But, I got good news
