THE MESSAGE
IF ANYONE OF YOU IS AFFLICTED LET HIM PRAY
1.PRAY PERSISTANTLY
When we are afflicted we must pray persistantly.We should not get
discouraged and give up. We must pray until we get an answer from God.The widow who wanted justice from an unjust judge was persistant until she got what she she wanted.We must pray with determination.
2.PRAY WITH PRAISE
When we are afflicted we must pray with praise. We must not forget
the benefits we have already received from God. Our prayers must be mixed with thanksgiving and praise.Prayers from grateful heart will bring more blessings from God.We must worship God and give him the honour and praise which is due to Him.
3.PRAY POSITIVELY
When we are afflicted we must pray positively with faith and
assurance that God will answer our prayers.When we pray with faith without doubt and unbelief we will receive answers to our prayers. Jesus could not do mighty works in his hometown because of their unbelief.Therefore we must pray with faith in the faithfulness of God to receive answers.
4.PRAY WITH A PLEASING LIFE
When we are afflicted we must pray with a life that is pleasing
to God.When we do what is pleasing to God we have the assurance that we will receive what we ask of Him.When we abide in Him and His words abide in us we will receive what we ask of Him.
5.PRAY WITH A PURE HEART
When we are afflicted we must pray with a pure heart and right
motive. We should not pray with a selfish or wicked motive.We should not pray with anger and bitterness for vengeance or destruction on others.Our motive must be right before God otherwise He will not listen to us.
6.PRAY ACCORDING TO THE PLAN OF GOD
When we are afflicted we must pray according to the plan of God.
Our prayers should not be against the will of God.Jesus even in the midst of great agony prayed ’not my will but thy will be done’. When our prayers are according to the will of God we have the assurance that we will receive the answer. The Holy spirit helps us to pray according to the will of God.We must be led by the Holy Spirit in our prayers.
7.PRAY AND POUR OUT YOUR HEART
Psalm 62:8 I Peter 5:7 James 5:16-18
When we are afflicted we must pray and pour out our heart before God. We must cast all our burdens on Him.We must pray fervently and effectually.We must not offer half hearted prayers. We must pray from the bottom of our heart and pour out our heart in the presence of God. Such passionate prayers will touch the heart of God. We should not carry needless burden and worry upon us .We must cast all our burdens on the Lord.When we pour out heart to God we will get answers to our prayer.
