Summary: The story of Easter is a story that can be best told from the lips of the empty tomb.God emptied the tomb to fill our hearts.

If The Tomb Could Talk

Proverbs 30:15-16

“…... There are three things that are never satisfied, yea, four things say not, It is enough:

The grave; and the barren womb; the earth that is not filled with water; and the fire that saith not, It is enough. (The grave is never satisfied)

There has never been a time that death looms as it does today. Yesterday the total of 20,299 people has died in the United States. 210 countries have been affected with 1,780,314 people confirmed with Covid-19, with 108,827 deaths. Death has affected the young and the old.

Hebrews 9;27 “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.”

The earth is about 6,000 years old with an estimate of some 108 billion people being born, with an estimated total world population of 7.5 billion people. An average of 141 million people is born each year and 57 million die each year. Death is a very real part of life.

* Cain was the first baby ever born according to Genesis 4:1, and Abel was the first to die, Genesis 4:8.

* Over 2 million people left in the Exodus from Egypt to Canaan. Those over 20 years old died in the wilderness with the exception of Joshua and Caleb; 6000,000 people men died and were buried.

* 25,000 died the Revolutionary War

* 24,000 died in the War of 1812

* 40 Million died in World War I

* 70 Million died in World War II

* 4.5 Million died in the Vietnam War

* 5 Million died in the Korean Conflict

* 290 allied soldiers died during Desert Storm with almost 60,000 Iraq’s killed.

Matthew 24:6 “And ye shall hear wars and rumors of war: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.”

THE GRAVE IS NEVER SATISFIED, SELDOM CHEATED, AND SUDDENLY APPEARS.

1.) Enoch and Elijah are the only two that ever escaped, for they were translated that they should not see death.

2.) Our subject today is not on the two that cheated death, nor is it on the sudden casualties of death, but rather on the ONLY ONE who conquered death.

I want to take you to a Garden, at near Golgotha. This Tomb belongs to a rich man by the name of Joseph of Arimathea. He begged the Body of Jesus and laid his body to rest. For three days now the Lord’s body is there in the tomb sealed by Roman and celebrated by Satan. The Sun is just beginning to rise now and the plan of all the ages is stepping closer to the dawning of a day that all Men, Heaven, and Hell will never forget.

The earth quakes, the rocks rent, the stone rolls away, and the Son of God rises from the ashes of death with victory over death, hell, and the grave. OH, IF That Tomb Could Talk, What Would It Say?

-2-

[I.] THE PLACE WHERE HE LAID IS EMPTY

Matthew 28:6 “He is not here: for he is risen, as he said, Come, see the place where the Lord lay.”

A.) He kept his Word

John 2:19 “Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.”

B.) He Created a Way

Ephesians 4:8 “Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.”

C.) He Called a Wittiness The Angel said in Vs.6, “….come see the place”

[II.] THE POWER HE HAS IS EN-CREDITABLE

Matthew 28:2 “And, behold, there was a great earthquake; for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it.”

A.) The Law could not Condemn him Luke 24:42 “And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.”

B.) The Load could not Crush him

Matthew 26:39 “And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.”

C.) The Loath could not Corrupt him

Corruption is in the blood of man but his blood was the blood of God. Hebrews 13:20 “Now may the God of peace, who brought up from the dead our Lord Jesus--the great Shepherd of the sheep--through the blood of the everlasting covenant”

[III.] THE PEOPLE HE INFLUENCED IS PROFOUND

Matthew 28:1 “In the end of the Sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulcher.”
