Summary: Much of what we offer to God He never desired. What He is searching for are true worshippers.

Ingredients of True Worship Ps. 100

Intro. There are many different varieties of Worship.

1.) People abuse themselves. [Elijah w/Baal prophets, Catholic, etc]

2.) Some are very Dry. [Formal]

3.) Others are so Wet and Wild - that is they are slippery!

4.) The Bible says that God seeks those who will worship in “Spirit and Truth ”

5.) First in our Mission Statement is “Worship”.

6.) What are the Ingredients of True Worship???

In Ps. 100 I want us to look at the ingredients which form True Worship…

I.) The first Ingredient Mentioned in True Worship is JOY. (vv. 1-2)

1.) “Make a joyful noise” [Not mopping]

2.) “The joy of the Lord is your strength.” (Neh. 8:10)

3.) David said this of his relationship with the Lord. (Ps. 4:7)

4.) The early Church experienced this gladness. (Acts 2:46-47)

5.) It is a duty for believers. (Ps. 5:11, 32:11, Lk. 10:20, Phil. 4:4)

II.) The Second Ingredient in True Worship is SERVICE. (v. 2)

1.) No real worship until we are willing to serve!!!

2.) What God told Israel. (Ex. 23:25, Duet. 10:12)

3.) Our “bodies as living sacrifices” = reasonable service!! (Rom. 12:1)

4.) This is a call to you and me today!!!

III.) The Third Ingredient of Worship is PROCLAIMING OF HONOR! (v. 3)

1.) We must Acclaim that He is Lord and God!!!

2.) We must Acclaim Him as Creator!!!

3.) We must Disclaim any of His work as our own!!!

4.) This is the point of (Lk. 17:10) [thought needs reviving!!]

IV.) The Fourth Ingredient Found in True Worship is THANKSGIVING. (v. 4)

1.) This is a duty for all men when God has blessed! (Duet. 8:10, Ps. 107:22)

2.) If you are a Christian you owe Him special thankfulness! (Col. 1:12-14)

3.) It is the will of God for you to be thankful in all things. (1 Thess. 5:18)

V.) The Fifth Ingredient In True Worship is PRAISE. (v. 4)

1.) “bless” = to celebrate.

2.) We are to offer up praise to Him continually. (Heb. 13:15)

3.) It is a voluntary decision to exalt, magnify and glorify God!!!

Conclusion: This type of worship is for all people!!!

1.) This is the only Psalm entitled, “A Psalm of Praise.”

2.) How does your worship compare to that of this Psalm?

3.) We need to know the joy and power of losing ourselves in Worship of Him!
