Summary: We need to hang on to the word of God

I’ve got a word

Mark 4:35-41

35 On the same day, when evening had come, He said to them, “Let us cross over to the other side.”

36 Now when they had left the multitude, they took Him along in the boat as He was. And other little boats were also with Him.

37 And a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat so that it was already filling.

38 But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow.

And they awoke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?”

39 Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm.

40 But He said to them, “Why are you so fearful? How[h] is it that you have no faith?”

41 And they feared exceedingly, and said to one another, “Who can this be, that even the wind and the sea obey Him!”

5:1 Then they came to the other side of the sea, to the country of the [a]Gadarenes

Pray

We see in this passage of Scripture that Jesus gives His disciples a word.

He tells them let us go to the other side.

Has anyone ever got a word from the Lord?

*Maybe God told you he was going to save your children.

*Maybe He told you your ministry was going to another level of effectiveness.

*Maybe He told you that you were going to meet that husband or wife you been believing for.

*Maybe He told you he was going to bless and prosper you financially,

Maybe He told you that you’re going to get out of debt.

Whatever it was that He told you

You got a word from God.

Tell your neighbor: I’ve got a word

The problem is a lot of people get a word from God and the devil don’t like it

So he challenges your word.

How many in here knows that their word is being challenged?

You see like the disciples You got a word from the Master

But somewhere Between your word and the other side of manifestation

Your word got challenged

I came to help somebody this morning

I came to tell you that the devil has enough power to challenge your word.

But he doesn’t have enough power to change your word!

Amen

Jesus said (let us go)

That's Divine presence guaranteed.

There’s something about His presence that makes the difference.

He doesn’t promise us exemption from our problems.

But He promises divine presence in the problems.

David said;

Yeah though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil (for thou art with me)

Moses said

He was so dependent upon the presence of God, That he said If your presence does not go with us, don’t take us from this place.

Psalms 16:11 says

In Your presence is the fullness of joy;

At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

He will never leave you nor forsake you

He is a friend that sticks closer than a brother

Your friends and your family will let you down

Your Job will let you down

But your God will never let you down!

He is a friend that sticks closer than a brother

We all know people who start out with you, and they say you can always count on me,

I’ll be there for you.

But when things get bad you look around and they’re either gone or become invisible.

When you got money you got friends,

But a real friend is one who is still there when the money is gone.

Jesus said: I’ll be that friend that sticketh closer than a brother,

He was there before you had any money,

Before your position,

Before you had a beautiful house,

Before the new car, before you were all dressed up.

He was there when you were in the projects, and you were walking to work, or riding the bus,

He was there when you got your clothes from Goodwill.

Somebody knows what I’m talking about:

He was there when you were trying to decide should I pay my electric bill or should I get some groceries.

(He was there)

He promised us, no matter what comes your way in life I will be there with you.

Oh yes He is a Friend that sticks closer than a brother

Amen

Our Scripture says: there arose a great storm

The word Arose:

Means it came up out of nowhere,

With no warning at all

No notice, everything was going good,

They had been in smooth sailing

(And all of a sudden) A storm

Who here can testify to that?

Life is going great and then all the sudden a phone call changes everything
