1. God told Aaron and his sons that they had to stay at the entrance of the tabernacle for seven days.

A. This was the price for their success.

Josh 1:8

8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

B. Not doing what God requires brings serious consequences. In this case death.

Lev 8:35

35 Therefore shall ye abide at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation day and night seven days, and keep the charge of the LORD, that ye die not: for so I am commanded.

C. If Jehovah requires something from us then it becomes our duty to do what is required.

Acts 5:29

29 Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.

II. God required a SIN OFFERING for Aaron and his sons before they could offer a sin offering for the people.

Heb 5:2-3

2 Who can have compassion on the ignorant, and on them that are out of the way; for that he himself also is compassed with infirmity.

3 And by reason hereof he ought, as for the people, so also for himself, to offer for sins.(KJV)

A. This shedding of blood was presented for the unintentional and intentional sins that was committed where restitution was impossible.

B. If the offering was not accompanied by repentance, divine forgiveness was withheld.

C. This offering was accomplished by smearing blood form the sacrifice on the horns of the altar.

III. God required a BURNT OFFERING from Aaron and his sons before they could offer a burnt offering for the people.

1 Tim 4:16

16 Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.

A. The burnt offering was a continual offering offered morning and night.

B. The entire offering was burned upon the altar.

C. This offering was to teach the people that their sinfulness required a complete and continual atonement until Christ came.

D. Aaron and his sons had to offer a burnt offering for themselves, morning and night thus showing us that we must take care of ourselves before we can take care of others.

IV. Once the SIN and BURNT offerings were made for Aaron and his sons and the people then they were free to offer a PEACE offering.

A. This sacrifice celebrated covering of sin, forgiveness by God and restoration of a right and meaningful relationship with God.

B. Part of this offering was eaten by the priest and part by the worshiper.

C. God hosted the meal communing with priest and worshiper alike.

V. Moses told the people that when they had followed the instructions of Jehovah then His glory would appear to them.

Lev 9:6

6 And Moses said, This is the thing which the LORD commanded that ye should do: and the glory of the LORD shall appear unto you.

16 And I will bring the blind by a way that they knew not; I will lead them in paths that they have not known: I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight. These things will I do unto them, and not forsake them.

VI. After Aaron had fulfilled all that Jehovah wanted him to do he was able to bless the

people.

Lev 9:22

22 And Aaron lifted up his hand toward the people, and blessed them, and came down from offering of the sin offering, and the burnt offering, and peace offerings.

A. It's very important that we don't get the blessing before the obiedance.

VII. When things are done the way Jehovah wants them to be done then he will display his presence.

Lev 9:24

24 And there came a fire out from before the LORD, and consumed upon the altar the burnt offering and the fat:

CONCLUSION: When the presence of Jehovah is manifested to us then we should be moved in some tangible manner.
