Summary: There is only one that fits our perfect EXAMPLE to follow - Jesus!

Today, our world is looking for the perfect role model, for a mentor, for a hero, or a leader or teacher to be present. Our children, our parents, our leaders in our communities, is looking for teachers in Character Development. My class to the Cadets of Civil Air Patrol that I teach is on Integrity, excellence, and respect, and service. Jesus is the perfect person as He speaks about all of these values.

Jesus with His 12 Disciples washed their feet and said these words, "I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you." (John 13:15) He demonstrated by doing the act in front of them -- gave them an object lesson on humility.

WHY should we follow Jesus' example? Several reasons for me. First, there never was a man like Him. He was without sin, tempted, yes, but sinful. Second, no one ever loved like He did and He said He loved me. Third, He proved He is more than a man, the Son of God, in many different ways. Fourth, He spoke words of truth to follow that will make you a new person. Fifth, No one has ever died for me like He did. Sixth, He has promised me something that no else has -- a future that is eternal. Seventh, No has has me more joyful for living daily!

The Apostle Paul followed Jesus and wrote about His Jesus. "I count all things to be loss in view of surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. That I may know Him, Jesus, and the power of His resurrection." (Philippians 3:8,10) Everything their is to know about Jesus, He wrote down and taught to people in the Church.

Paul then said these all important words to us. "Be imitators of me, just as I also am of Christ." (I Corinthians 11:1) Peter also said similar words referring to Jesus, "Leaving you an example for you to follow in His steps." (! Peter 2:21)

When athletes are asked are asked what motivates you to be the best and win, many times they will repeat the Bible's words, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." (Philippians 4:13). Laura Wilkerson and Barry Sanders. Jesus Christ, our example, for His words motivate us. His Life motivates us. His death motivates us. His resurrection motivates us.

Conclusion:

The popular Christian song "Nobody But Jesus" says it all. Are you following Jesus as your example, He said to all of us, "Come, follow me!" His He leading you to be the kind of person you need to be -- loving, joyful, peaceful, humble, full of goodness, like your Heavenly Father wants you to be. Amen.
