VIII. MAIN BODY:

Judah is talking to his father Jacob, convincing him to let Benjamin go with them to Egypt so they can buy food for the family. Jacob is hesitant because he remembered his favorite son, Joseph, did not return to him before, now Benjamin, Joseph's youngest brother will not return to him either. In what Judah said to his father, Jacob, we can see the redemptive quality of Judah, unlike his oldest brother Reuben promising his two sons's death in exchange of Benjamin, Judah promised himself and not anyone else. Judah is a type of CHRIST. CHRIST came from this tribe. Judah, meaning "celebrated", or "praised", celebrated or praised the future coming of the Messiah from his tribe, that is none other than the LORD JESUS CHRIST Himself.

Compare what Reuben said below with our text:

Genesis 42:37 (Amplified Bible)

42:37 And Reuben said to his father, Slay my two sons if I do not bring [Benjamin] back to you. Deliver him into my keeping, and I will bring him back to you.

How dare Reuben promised an innocent blood, even the blood of his two sons to his father just to impressed him.

A. Judah promised himself, his own life

" I will be security for him; you shall require him of me [personally];"

1. JESUS promised Himself for us, His own body on the tree, cursed for us, and we acquire the blessings.

I remembered the LORD JESUS CHRIST Himself, this sermon is entirely focused on the character of the LORD JESUS CHRIST and not on Judah. Remember, our LORD JESUS CHRIST, promised Himself, promised His blood and body to redeem us.

Hebrews 10:5-9 (Amplified Bible)

10:5 Hence, when He [Christ] entered into the world, He said, Sacrifices and offerings You have not desired, but instead You have made ready a body for Me [to offer];

10:6 In burnt offerings and sin offerings You have taken no delight.

10:7 Then I said, Behold, here I am, coming to do Your will, O God—[to fulfill] what is written of Me in the volume of the Book.

10:8 When He said just before, You have neither desired, nor have You taken delight in sacrifices and offerings and burnt offerings and sin offerings—all of which are offered according to the Law—

10:9 He then went on to say, Behold, [here] I am, coming to do Your will. Thus He does away with and annuls the first (former) order [as a means of expiating sin] so that He might inaugurate and establish the second (latter) order.

Psalms 40:6-8 (Amplified Bible)

40:6 Sacrifice and offering You do not desire, nor have You delight in them; You have given me the capacity to hear and obey [Your law, a more valuable service than] burnt offerings and sin offerings [which] You do not require.

40:7 Then said I, Behold, I come; in the volume of the book it is written of me;

40:8 I delight to do Your will, O my God; yes, Your law is within my heart.

Galatians 3:13 (Amplified Bible)

3:13 Christ purchased our freedom [redeeming us] from the curse (doom) of the Law [and its condemnation] by [Himself] becoming a curse for us, for it is written [in the Scriptures], Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree (is crucified);

Deuteronomy 21:23 (Amplified Bible)

21:23 His body shall not remain all night upon the tree, but you shall surely bury him on the same day, for a hanged man is accursed by God. Thus you shall not defile your land which the Lord your God gives you for an inheritance.

2. JESUS promised His own riches for us to become rich.
