An ANONYMOUS Attitude(:3c)

—Explanation:(:3c) God’s glory

“& Joanna the wife of Chuza, Herod’s steward, & Susanna, & many others who were contributing to their support out of their private means.”

“Joanna”—Only known thru her husband

Many women known thru husbands—Preacher such-&-such’s wife—Dr. such-&-such’s wife

“Susanna”—Unknown & Unnamed except here.

“Many others”—Unnamed

“Others”—Feminine—Other women

Support of Jesus’ ministry is not a support of ‘people’ so much as its a support of the One working thru those people—Jesus!

In Anonymity there is a peace—Focus on the work of God—In the gift & the giver.

Yes we want to honor those who have done well in Christ but when God’s is undermined.

We clap during choir specials not to recognize their ability but to recognize God’s giftedness.

—Argumentation:

John 3:25-30—“There arose therefore a discussion on the part of John’s disciples with a Jew about purification. And they came to John & said to him, “Rabbi, He who was with you beyond the Jordan, to whom you have borne witness, behold, He is baptizing, & all are coming to Him.” John answered & said, “A man can receive nothing, unless it has been given him from heaven. “You yourselves bear me witness, that I said, ‘I am not the Christ,’ but, ‘I have been sent before Him.’ “He who has the bride is the bridegroom; but the friend of the bridegroom, who stands & hears him, rejoices greatly because of the bridegroom’s voice. And so this joy of mine has been made full. “He must increase, but I must decrease.”

1Cor. 10:32—11:1—“Give no offense either to Jews or to Greeks or to the church of God; just as I also please all men in all things, not seeking my own profit, but the profit of the many, that they may be saved....“Be imitators of me, just as I also am of Christ.”

11—Practical support of the Gospel of Christ promotes

A PERSOANL Attitude(:3c)

—Explanation:(:3c)

“& Joanna the wife of Chuza, Herod’s steward, & Susanna, & many others who were contributing to their support out of their private means.”

“Out of their private means/From/Of their substance”—Personal decision to direct resources toward Jesus’ ministry.

A descision one must make to him/herself.

—Argumentation:

Ex. 35:21-22, 36:5-7—“And everyone whose heart stirred him and everyone whose spirit moved him came and brought the LORD’S contribution for the work of the tent of meeting and for all its service and for the holy garments. Then all whose hearts moved them, both men and women, came and brought brooches and earrings and signet rings and bracelets, all articles of gold; so did every man who presented an offering of gold to the LORD.”....“and they said to Moses, “The people are bringing much more than enough for the construction work which the LORD commanded us to perform.” So Moses issued a command, and a proclamation was circulated throughout the camp, saying, “Let neither man nor woman any longer perform work for the contributions of the sanctuary.” Thus the people were restrained from bringing any more. For the material they had was sufficient and more than enough for all the work, to perform it.”
