Jesus - The Living Bread

Wherever Jesus went when He was here on earth, there is always a multitude of people around Him apart from the disciples. And He would always talk to them about the kingdom of God. Jesus' time here on earth was spent on doing good according to the book of Acts 10:38 which says this how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.

Jesus was able to fulfil His ministry because He was anointed by God and the anointing that was on Him was the power of the Holy Spirit and most importantly God was with Him. Therefore, everywhere He went He was able to do exploits even when He was opposed by the Pharisees, the Sadducess and the chief priests.

Matthew 16:1

Then the Pharisees and Sadducees came, and testing Him asked that He would show them a sign from heaven.

Mark 8:11

Then the Pharisees came out and began to dispute with Him, seeking from Him a sign from heaven, testing Him.

Luke 20:20-26

So they watched Him, and sent spies who pretended to be righteous, that they might seize on His words, in order to deliver Him to the power and the authority of the governor.

Then they asked Him, saying, Teacher, we know that You say and teach rightly, and You do not show personal favoritism, but teach the way of God in truth: Is it lawful for us to pay taxes to Caesar or not?

But He perceived their craftiness, and said to them, Why do you test Me? Show Me a denarius. Whose image and inscription does it have?

They answered and said, Caesar’s.

And He said to them, “Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.

But they could not catch Him in His words in the presence of the people. And they marvelled at His answer and kept silent.

Mark 12:28-34

Then one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, perceiving that He had answered them well, asked Him, Which is the first commandment of all?

Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is: Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength. This is the first commandment. And the second, like it, is this: You shall love your neighbour as yourself. There is no other commandment greater than these.

So the scribe said to Him, Well said, Teacher. You have spoken the truth, for there is one God, and there is no other but He. And to love Him with all the heart, with all the understanding, with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love one’s neighbour as oneself, is more than all the whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.

Now when Jesus saw that he answered wisely, He said to him, You are not far from the kingdom of God.

But after that no one dared question Him.

Even with all this Jesus who is the Living WORD continued to do good. Jesus was able to give His word to the people and He blessed the people spiritually and physically. The power of God in Him enabled Him to feed the multitudes in the following chapters of the bible.

John 6: 1 - 14

After these things Jesus went over the Sea of Galilee, which is the Sea of Tiberias. Then a great multitude followed Him, because they saw His signs which He performed on those who were diseased. And Jesus went up on the mountain, and there He sat with His disciples.

Now the Passover, a feast of the Jews, was near. Then Jesus lifted up His eyes, and seeing a great multitude coming toward Him, He said to Philip, Where shall we buy bread, that these may eat? But this He said to test him, for He Himself knew what He would do.

Philip answered Him, Two hundred denarii worth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may have a little.

One of His disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, said to Him, There is a lad here who has five barley loaves and two small fish, but what are they among so many?

Then Jesus said, Make the people sit down. Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand. And Jesus took the loaves, and when He had given thanks He distributed them to the disciples, and the disciples to those sitting down; and likewise of the fish, as much as they wanted. So when they were filled, He said to His disciples, Gather up the fragments that remain, so that nothing is lost.Therefore they gathered them up, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves which were left over by those who had eaten. Then those men, when they had seen the sign that Jesus did, said, This is truly the Prophet who is to come into the world.
