I. EXORDIUM:

Do you boast in your love for GOD?

II. AUDIENCE PROFILE:

Believers

III. OBJECTIVES:

To persuade us to boast GOD's love on us.

1 John 4:10 (Amplified Bible)

In this is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation (the atoning sacrifice) for our sins.

IV. TEXT:

John 1:31 (Amplified Bible)

And I did not know Him and did not recognize Him [myself]; but it is in order that He should be made manifest and be revealed to Israel [be brought out where we can see Him] that I came baptizing in (with) water.

John 1:33 (Amplified Bible)

And I did not know Him nor recognize Him, but He Who sent me to baptize in (with) water said to me, Upon Him Whom you shall see the Spirit descend and remain, that One is He Who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.

Boast of CHRIST's love in us and we'll be victorious.

G. Key verse:

John 20:31 (Amplified Bible)

But these are written (recorded) in order that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ (the Anointed One), the Son of God, and that through believing and cleaving to and trusting and relying upon Him you may have life through (in) His name [through Who He is].

VIII. MAIN BODY:

A. John admitted did not know CHRIST

"And I did not know Him and did not recognize Him [myself];"

"And I did not know Him nor recognize Him"

The issue is us not GOD when we "excuse" our not having relationship with the LORD JESUS CHRIST. Take a look at this, John the Baptist, was carefully chosen and position to be CHRIST's messenger, he's born cousin of JESUS CHRIST in the flesh, in the power of Elijah, called messenger of CHRIST but he himself, admitted He did not know CHRIST nor recognized Him.

Matthew 11:14 (Amplified Bible)

And if you are willing to receive and accept it, John himself is Elijah who was to come [before the kingdom].

Malachi 4:5 (Amplified Bible)

Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the great and terrible day of the Lord comes.

John 1:6 (Amplified Bible)

There came a man sent from God, whose name was John.

Malachi 3:1 (Amplified Bible)

BEHOLD, I send My messenger, and he shall prepare the way before Me. And the Lord [the Messiah], Whom you seek, will suddenly come to His temple; the Messenger or Angel of the covenant, Whom you desire, behold, He shall come, says the Lord of hosts.

Luke 1:13 (Amplified Bible)

But the angel said to him, Do not be afraid, Zachariah, because your petition was heard, and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you must call his name John [God is favorable].

Our ultimate goal is and purpose in life is to know CHRIST and to enrich our relationship with Him while here on earth.

John 17:3 (Amplified Bible)

And this is eternal life: [it means] to know (to perceive, recognize, become acquainted with, and understand) You, the only true and real God, and [likewise] to know Him, Jesus [as the] Christ (the Anointed One, the Messiah), Whom You have sent.

2 Peter 3:18 (Amplified Bible)

But grow in grace (undeserved favor, spiritual strength) and recognition and knowledge and understanding of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (the Messiah). To Him [be] glory (honor, majesty, and splendor) both now and to the day of eternity. Amen (so be it)!

Colossians 1:9-10 (Amplified Bible)

For this reason we also, from the day we heard of it, have not ceased to pray and make [special] request for you, [asking] that you may be filled with the full (deep and clear) knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom [in comprehensive insight into the ways and purposes of God] and in understanding and discernment of spiritual things—

That you may walk (live and conduct yourselves) in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to Him and desiring to please Him in all things, bearing fruit in every good work and steadily growing and increasing in and by the knowledge of God [with fuller, deeper, and clearer insight, acquaintance, and recognition].

Grow in the knowledge of CHRIST, our relationship with CHRIST is our utmost priority in life. The greatest tragedy in this life worst than death, is not to know CHRIST as LORD and SAVIOR of our life.

Mark 8:36 (Amplified Bible)
