VIII. MAIN BODY:

Judah is talking with Joseph pleading for the life of the boy, that he instead should be detained in Egypt as slave and the boy go free to his brethren.

A. Judah - type of CHRIST

"Now therefore, I pray you, let your servant remain instead of the youth [to be] a slave to my lord,"

Judah or "yehudah" in Hebrew meaning:

1. celebrated or praise

Judah is fourth son of Leah (weary -

Leah symbolizes the unbelievers because her name means "weary" meaning: Having the strength much exhausted by toil or violent exertion; tired; fatigued. Leah is the unwanted wife. Leah symbolizes the elder who said to his father no, but later on changed his mind and did the will of his father. As elder, she by principle, served the younger.

Genesis 29:35 (Amplified Bible)

29:35 Again she conceived and bore a son, and she said, Now will I praise the Lord! So she called his name Judah [praise]; then [for a time] she ceased bearing.

Romans 9:12 (Amplified Bible)

9:12 It was said to her that the elder [son] should serve the younger [son].

Matthew 21:28-29 (Amplified Bible)

21:28 What do you think? There was a man who had two sons. He came to the first and said, Son, go and work today in the vineyard.

21:29 And he answered, I will not; but afterward he changed his mind and went.

There are other people in the bible who is willing to die for another:

1. Moses for the Israelites

Exodus 32:32 (Amplified Bible)

32:32 Yet now, if You will forgive their sin—and if not, blot me, I pray You, out of Your book which You have written!

2. Paul for the Jews

Romans 9:3 (Amplified Bible)

9:3 For I could wish that I myself were accursed and cut off and banished from Christ for the sake of my brethren and instead of them, my natural kinsmen and my fellow countrymen.

3. JESUS for the world

2 Corinthians 5:21 (Amplified Bible)

5:21 For our sake He made Christ [virtually] to be sin Who knew no sin, so that in and through Him we might become [endued with, viewed as being in, and examples of] the righteousness of God [what we ought to be, approved and acceptable and in right relationship with Him, by His goodness].

Romans 5:7-10 (Amplified Bible)

5:7 Now it is an extraordinary thing for one to give his life even for an upright man, though perhaps for a noble and lovable and generous benefactor someone might even dare to die.

5:8 But God shows and clearly proves His [own] love for us by the fact that while we were still sinners, Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One) died for us.

5:9 Therefore, since we are now justified (acquitted, made righteous, and brought into right relationship with God) by Christ’s blood, how much more [certain is it that] we shall be saved by Him from the indignation and wrath of God.

5:10 For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, it is much more [certain], now that we are reconciled, that we shall be saved (daily delivered from sin’s dominion) through His [resurrection] life.

B. Benjamin - type of the church

"and let the young man go home with his [half] brothers."

From Benoni to Benjamin, Benoni means "son of my sorrow" while Benjamin means "son of my right hand". Benjamin is the son of the favorite and loved wife, Rachel. Rachel represents a believer.
