Summary: This sermon deals with the judgment of Satan after Tribulation ends.

Judgment For Satan

Revelation 20:1-6

1 Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, having the key to the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.

2He laid hold of the dragon, that serpent of old, who is the Devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years;

3and he cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal on him, so that he should deceive the nations no more till the thousand years were finished. But after these things he must be released for a little while.

4And I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was committed to them. Then I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their witness to Jesus and for the word of God, who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received his mark on their foreheads or on their hands. And they lived and reigned with Christ for a thousand years.

5But the rest of the dead did not live again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.

6Blessed and holy is he who has part in the first resurrection. Over such the second death has no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with Him a thousand years.

Today we resume our look at the book of Revelation.

Chapter 20 is one of the most controversial chapters in the Bible.

It touches on a subject of preconceived notions.

Now is the time when Satan will be taken,

bound, and put into the bottomless pit.

His influence will not have any effect on the Tribulation Saints

who have lived through the 7 years of Tribulation.

Can you imagine a life where Satan isn't around to temp anyone?

The 1,000-year millennium will be a time of paradise.

Nothing bad will happen?

Even the curse on the animals will be lifted.

The wolf will lie down with the lamb and will live in peace.

No one will enter into the 1,000-year millennium

unless he or she is a believer in Jesus.

We will be living in our glorified bodies

given to us at our resurrection.

There will also be those who do not die during Tribulation.

They enter the Millennium in a physical body.

Most will live for the entire 1,000 years.

They will give birth to children.

There will be a tremendous population explosion

during those 1,000 years.

There will be probably billions of people at the end.

The children of those born during the millennium

will still have to be taught about Jesus

even though He will be with them constantly.

Many will not accept Him.

Many of those children will be rebels.

There will be many unbelievers.

VERSES 1 and 2: Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, having the key to the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. 2 He laid hold of the dragon, that serpent of old, who is the Devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years;

This "angel" is not Jesus.

It is a ministering angel that Jesus has given authority to.

This angel comes from heaven.

Jesus has turned the key to the bottomless pit over to this angel.

This "great chain" shows the power

God has given him over the devil for this job.

Before the millennial kingdom begins,

Satan is bound in the pit to prevent him from deceiving anyone.

When he bound the devil for the 1000 years,

the angel put him in the pit, not in the burning hell.

Burning hell is reserved for his final punishment.

The devil will not be here on the earth to harass people

until the millennial 1,000 year reign of Jesus is over.

VERSE 3 and he cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal on him, so that he should deceive the nations no more till the thousand years were finished. But after these things he must be released for a little while.

The seal indicates God's authority and guarantee

that Satan will not be released until 1,000 years have passed.

During the Millennium

Satan will not be able to tempt or deceive the nations.

Satan's demons or fallen angels are also imprisoned at this time.

Any temptation to sin at the end of the Millennium

must come from within those people

who are born during the 1,000 years.

Jesus will reign on earth without opposition.

His kingdom will include righteousness, peace, and love.

Isaiah 2:3-4

Many people shall come and say,

"Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD,

To the house of the God of Jacob; He will teach us His ways,

And we shall walk in His paths."
