Pentecost/Season after Pentecost

“I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well” (Psalm 139.14).

Knowing How to Appreciate Yourself the way God made you

1. Knowing how to appreciate yourself the way God made you through praise.

2. Knowing how to appreciate yourself the way God made you through precious moments.

3. Knowing how to appreciate yourself the way God made you through proper positive thoughts.

Looking at this psalm of David which he addresses to the chief musician we see some very awesome things. First of all, he wrote it to the chief musician. Sometimes what God gives us we just have to share it with someone else who can truly bring it alive. God wants us to bless the body of Christ the best way we can, the best way that will bring him the greatest glory . That just maybe having the words he gives us put to music so that the song will bless the body of Christ bringing healing, change, hope, joy, and deliverance. Now the thing is this, music doesn’t replace the preaching of gospel for it is the power of God unto salvation to them that believe(Romans 1.16). But if the word of God has gone forth and the Spirit of God has broken up that fallowed ground of the heart thus convicting the individual that they need to be saved then the song makes a connection with your spirit to make your deliverance complete, to make your joy full, to make your hope renewed, to make your faith stronger. So writing to the chief musician lets us know this is going to be used in worship because there is someone who needs to know how to appreciate themselves the way God made them.

David tells us prior to this fourteenth verse of his journey that brought him to this point of decision and discovery. He tells us that God you have searched me and you know me like no other knows me. You know me in ways I don’t know myself. You know me in ways I will never know myself. He says that you know my movements and actions, my thoughts are understood by you, your angels surround my path and my bed, you know my ways, my every word is known by you, you’ve covered my every step, and you’ve laid your hand on me. Not only have you done these things God but you have gone into orbit because such knowledge as I’ve cited is in a place I’ll never be able to retrieve it or for that matter go to where it is. All I know is that it is too wonderful for me.

Let me show you just how wonderful it is for me. It doesn’t matter where I go, what I’m doing where I go, when I get where I’m going to do what I’ll be doing , nor does it matter why I’m there. I cannot get away your presence nor your light Lord. You already laid claim on me, Lord for you covered me in my mother’s womb. You covered me with your spirit, your power, your knowledge, your joy, your hope, and your peace. So David has no reason but to say “I will praise thee: for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are thy works; and that my soul knows right well”.

Knowing how to appreciate yourself the way God made you is to be done first, through praise. God made us as part of his marvelous works. We should praise him because we are fearfully and wonderfully made. Recognizing this fact, God has put us together in such a way that makes us appreciate ourselves. Appreciate our anatomy. Appreciate our physiology. Appreciate our structure. Appreciate our organization. Appreciate chemical composition. Appreciate our systems. Appreciate our organs. Appreciate our tissues. Appreciate our cells. Appreciate our sub-cellular components. Appreciate our design. Appreciate our order. We need to praise God because are fearfully and wonderfully made. We need to appreciate everything about us. The way we look, the way we don’t look, the way we walk, the way we stand, the way we speak, the way we work, the way we believe, the way God made us to praise him because we are fearfully and wonderfully made. Fearfully and wonderfully made to praise him because he loved us. Fearfully and wonderfully made to praise him because he knows all about us and what he desires to give us and how he desires to use us. Fearfully and wonderfully made to praise him because he has given us certain gifts and graces to be used in the ministry of the church. Fearfully and wonderfully made to praise him because he made us to him, adore him, worship him, preach his word, and serve his people.
