Summary: God can do some of the greatest things with the least likely packages.

LEAST LIKELY

Introduction:

I want to talk about “Least Likely” today. It is important that some of greatest things can come from the least likely places, from the least likely people, in the least likely package.

This is illustrated by the story of a Boy Scout who showed up at his troop meeting with a black eye.

When his scoutmaster asked him what had happened, he replied that he had tried to help a little old lady across the street. "How in the world could you get a black eye doing that?" asked the scoutmaster.

Replied the scout, "She didn’t want to go."

You know that boy scout is a lot like Gods’ people, they forget that God is ready to use everyone hear today and he needs us to understand a few things.

That boy scout wasn’t expecting a movement but more importantly he wasn’t looking for it in a little old lady.

Exod 1:22-2:10

22 And Pharaoh charged all his people, saying, Every son that is born ye shall cast into the river, and every daughter ye shall save alive.

CHAPTER 2

1 And there went a man of the house of Levi, and took to wife a daughter of Levi.

2 And the woman conceived, and bare a son: and when she saw him that he was a goodly child, she hid him three months.

3 And when she could not longer hide him, she took for him an ark of bulrushes, and daubed it with slime and with pitch, and put the child therein; and she laid it in the flags by the river’s brink.

4 And his sister stood afar off, to wit what would be done to him.

5 And the daughter of Pharaoh came down to wash herself at the river; and her maidens walked along by the river’s side; and when she saw the ark among the flags, she sent her maid to fetch it.

6 And when she had opened it, she saw the child: and, behold, the babe wept. And she had compassion on him, and said, This is one of the Hebrews’ children.

7 Then said his sister to Pharaoh’s daughter, Shall I go and call to thee a nurse of the Hebrew women, that she may nurse the child for thee?

8 And Pharaoh’s daughter said to her, Go. And the maid went and called the child’s mother.

9 And Pharaoh’s daughter said unto her, Take this child away, and nurse it for me, and I will give thee thy wages. And the woman took the child, and nursed it.

10 And the child grew, and she brought him unto Pharaoh’s daughter, and he became her son. And she called his name Moses: and she said, Because I drew him out of the water.

I. Great things can come from the least likely places

Flea Market/ discount bins/

A. Moses came from the least likely place.

1. He came floating down the river.

2. He was in a basket

3. He was from the wrong family

a. He was from the wrong side of the tracks.

b. Does this make Moses Less

c. Did it make anybody else better.

B. God used him in spite of the lineage

1. God took what man wanted gone and saved it for his purpose

2. God used us when we really weren’t worth using.

3. There are times in my life that man wanted me gone and God didn’t

C. Where your from is not what God sees.

1. Being from a good place doesn’t matter to God.

2. Having a nice home doesn’t matter to God.

3. Having good clothes doesn’t matter to God

4. God takes people where they are

John 10:9-11

9 I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.

10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.

There is not a referance to where a man must come from

It doesn’t say you have to be good enough

It doesn’t say you have to give enough

It doesn’t say you have to come to church enough

He doesn’t measure your acceptance based on the lineage.

5. God sees us when others don’t want to

a. you and I were somewhere other than the right place when God loved us

b. It’s important for us to love others where they are not from where we are

I want to read from an account of Jesus life and it shows what he thought about where a person came from
