Summary: It is time to go to work

LET US ARISE

Nehemiah 2:1-20 KJV

INTRODUCTION:

The walls of our Churches, Families, Schools, Friendships, Social Clubs, are all in great need of repair.

Anytime you begin to work for the cause of Heaven you are going to reap the trouble from the devil and all his little emps. BUT!

Isa. 59:19b says…

When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him.

>>which means…there will may great affliction in the Church, but God will always deliver his

Hopefully, we can find ourselves with the mindset to work, work to do better in all areas of our lives as did Nehemiah, and get us to Arise and work….

WHAT DO WE DO?

1. RECONGIZE THEY NEED REPAIR Vv. 13-17

A. They are Broken down….Vv. 13

B. They are Consumed with fire….Vv. 13

C. Notice the Distress we are in….Vv. 17

D. Notice we Lieth in Waste….Vv. 17

2. RISE AND FIX IT Vv. 18

A. Let us rise and build….Vv.18c

B. So they strengthened there hands for this good work….Vv. 18d

The work was Recommended

The was a Response to the call

They endured the Ridicule of the people

C. It is important to know, everyone knew the work was a good work, it would be good

for all to be rebuilding, not just the walls, but all the things noted in the intro.

Haggai 2:4b says…

…and be strong , all ye people of the land, saith the Lord, and work: for I am with you,

saith the Lord of hosts:

I Corinthians 15:58 says…

Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

3. RESTIST the DISCOURAGEMENT and NAY-SAYERS Vv. 19

A. They laughed us to scorn….Vv. 19b

B. They despised us for doing good….Vv. 19b

Nehemiah 4:19-23 says…..

19 And I said unto the nobles, and to the rulers, and to the rest of the people, The work is great and large, and we are separated upon the wall, one far from another.

20 In what place therefore ye hear the sound of the trumpet, resort ye thither unto us: our God shall fight for us.

21 So we laboured in the work: and half of them held the spears from the rising of the morning till the stars appeared.

22 Likewise at the same time said I unto the people, Let every one with his servant lodge within Jerusalem, that in the night they may be a guard to us, and labour on the day.

23 So neither I, nor my brethren, nor my servants, nor the men of the guard which followed me, none of us put off our clothes, saving that every one put them off for washing.

~They were not discouraged by what was being said about them, they knew there was

work to be done, and they were determined to get it done.

~They were willing to have a tool in one hand and a weapon in the other to get the job

done.

~Are we willing?

~We know there is work to be done, will we do it?

4. REMEMBER WHERE YOU’RE STRENGTH AND WILL TO WORK COME FROM

Vv 20, 18a

~The word “prosper” in Vv. 20 is a Hebrew word that means to…..

……..Push forward, to be profitable or to break out. This what we are made to do.

Romans 8:35-39 says…

35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? ALL CIRCUMSATANCES

36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.

37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, ALL PHYSICAL

39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. ALL OTHER OBSTICALS

~We are going to make it, we are going to rise, we are on the winning side!

CLOSING

~We need to rise above all that holds us back, and do the work that we know needs to be

done.

~When our Lord called out to His dear friend Lazarus, and said come forth, it did matter

that there was, grave clothes, a stone at the door, or that he had been dead for days, there

was work to be done.= “The Father was Glorified”
