Like Father, Like Son Series

Summary: Do you bear the family likeness? Whose image is expressed in your life? When you are born again of the Spirit of God, you have a new father. God is your Father! So, you are just like your Father God. You share His image in order to express His likeness.
What is God the Father like? John 14:8
A. If you want to know the Father, then look at His Son.
1. Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of God - John 3:16
2. Jesus is the visible image of the invisible Father God - Col. 1:15
3. The Son has declared the Father - John 1:18
B. Jesus is the embodiment of God the Father
1. God is the Father of Jesus - John 10:30
2. Jesus is one with His Father - John 10:30
3. The Father indwells the Son - John 10:38
II. From Son to sons
A. We can become sons of God
1. Because of the resurrection His Father can now be our Father - John 20:17
2. Remade in the image of Christ we become His brethren - Romans 8:29
B. How is this possible?
1. You must receive Christ John 1:12
2. You are born again by the Holy Spirit - John 1:13
C. Now you are sons & daughters of the living God
1. God the Father calls us sons - 1 John 3:1
2. He has made us like Him - 1 John 3:2
3. Father God demonstrated His love toward you by making you His son.
III. Like Father, like sons
A. God has placed the Spirit of His Son in you - Galatians 4:6
1. The Spirit connects you to your Father God.
2. The Spirit enables you to recognize God as your Father.
3. The Spirit prompts you to address God as Abba Father - Daddy God.
B. Jesus illustrated this with a Roman coin - Luke 20:22-25
1. Whose image is on the coin?
2. Give to Caesar that which is Caesar’s and to God that which is God’s.
3. Whose image is on your life?
4. You have been made in the image of God - Genesis 1:27
C. You belong to God. Romans 12:1
1. You must give yourself to God. Luke 20:25
2. Receive Jesus Christ into your life.
3. Acknowledge that God is now your Father in Christ.
4. Begin to relate to God as your Abba Father
D. Now that’s a happy Father’s Day everyday!
