LITTLE FOXES Song of Solomon 2:15

TEXT: Song of Solomon 2:15 –

Our vineyards are in blossom;

we must catch the little foxes

that destroy the vineyards.[d]

INTRODUCTION: The fox is a rather peculiar animal. It likes to feast on grapevines. It is silent and lonely. It has an incredible sense of sight, smell, and hearing. It exhibits tremendous cleverness in going after its prey. At times, it will actually play dead in order to attack a bird which is within its striking range. When hunted, it is very cunning, devious, and capable of misleading its pursuers with utmost skill. It has always been considered as an emblem of slyness - cunning - craftiness - mischief.

• Fox is Adorable

• Fox is Cute

• Because of its cuteness we don’t take it seriously

• Fox is Little

We tend to underestimate the smaller things in life. The atom bomb was a small object yet brought the nation of Japan to surrender in just a few minutes. A flea is very small but enough of them can kill the largest dog. If we ignore the little things they will someday grow up and become “big things”, and then they will present us a great problem.

Big sins are sometimes easier to deal with than little ones. We often take special care to watch for the big sins. But it is the little things that you have to watch out for too.

Our text says it is the LITTLE FOXES that spoil the vine. And it is the “little” sins that sometimes can cause us to fall.

Let’s look at SEVEN LITTLE FOXES.

1. WORRY/ FEAR

2. TELLING LITTLE FIBS

3. PRIDE

4. GOSSIP

5. JUDGING/ PREJUDICE /RACISM

6. COVETOUSNESS LUST ( LEADS TO SEXUAL SIN)

7. OVER INDULGENCE

LITTLE FOXES will tear you down

LITTLE FOXES will destroy your home

LITTLE FOXES will destroy your Marriage

LITTLE FOXES will Separate you from God

LITTLE FOXES will Hinder your Prayer Life

LITTLE FOXES will Stunt your Spiritual Growth

LITTLE FOXES will Cause you Stress

LITTLE FOXES will Hurt the Spiritual Growth of the Church

LITTLE FOXES will Keep a Revolving Door in the Church

OVERCOME LITTLE FOXES WITH KINDNESSES

Be Kind to everyone

Do something SPECIAL for your mate

Open the door for a stranger

Help your neighbor’s

Let someone go in front of you in a line

Visit the elderly, the shut in

Give hope to the hopeless

Give help the helpless

Offer to take someone’s shopping cart back to the cart return

Bring treats in to the Church

Call a friend who may need a pick me up

Let someone merge in front of you in traffic

Give to the poor and needy

Volunteer your time
