Summary: Jesus went to a well in the middle of the day and he went to Jacob’s well to get a drink because He was thirsty. So he sat down by the well to rest and drink his water. Suddenly a woman came up to get water and they started talking.

A pitcher of water and a glass. Good morning. How is everybody?

This water is so good. Ahhh. Oh would you like some? (Pour water)

Let me ask you guys something. Do you drink a lot of water? How much each day? Health specialists say we should drink 8 glasses a day. (8 oz.) Of course that depends on how much we are running and playing. We might even need more than that. Of course there are other things to drink besides water. Sometimes I like to have a glass of milk—especially with cookies—and I may drink a soda if I am eating a hamburger, but there is no substitute for water when you are hot and thirsty.

OK now. Listen to this. Jesus went to a well in the middle of the day and he went to Jacob’s well to get a drink because He was thirsty. So he sat down by the well to rest and drink his water. Suddenly a woman came up to get water and they started talking. Jesus told her that he had a different and of water and if you drink it you would never be thirsty again. Now I don’t know about you but every time I drink water it quenches my thirst but I also have to come back and get more later, don’t you?

verse. Scripture: Jesus answered, "Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give him will never be thirsty again. John 4:13.”

In our sermon today we will talk about deer for a moment. Have you ever seen one? You will be surprised but I saw one at the bank one day. In the drive through. Deer get thirsty from running and also when they are afraid if another animal is chasing them. So they run to the water. Jesus said that this living water lives inside of us. Once we get it, it’s always there, it bubbles up inside of us because Jesus never leaves us.

Dear Jesus, As the deer longs for streams of water, so do we long for you, the living water. Amen.
