A. Unbelieving institutions and it's leader coming to GOD

An unbeliever leader of a synagogue not instituted by GOD

"And there came a man named Jairus, who had [for a long time] been a director of the synagogue;"

Illustration:

There are many ministers and leader of different churches that are not born again coming to JESUS's feet to be saved.

Unbelieving leaders that approaches JESUS for help and salvation:

1. Nicodemus - ruler of the Jews

John 3:1-7

NOW THERE was a certain man among the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler (a leader, an authority) among the Jews,

Who came to Jesus at night and said to Him, Rabbi, we know and are certain that You have come from God [as] a Teacher; for no one can do these signs (these wonderworks, these miracles—and produce the proofs) that You do unless God is with him.

Jesus answered him, I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, that unless a person is born again (anew, from above), he cannot ever see (know, be acquainted with, and experience) the kingdom of God.

Nicodemus said to Him, How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter his mother’s womb again and be born?

Jesus answered, I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, unless a man is born of water and [even] the Spirit, he cannot [ever] enter the kingdom of God.

What is born of [from] the flesh is flesh [of the physical is physical]; and what is born of the Spirit is spirit.

Marvel not [do not be surprised, astonished] at My telling you, You must all be born anew (from above).

2. Jairus - rule of a synagogue

Luke 8:41

And there came a man named Jairus, who had [for a long time] been a director of the synagogue; and falling at the feet of Jesus, he begged Him to come to his house,

Synagogue or "sunagoge" in Greek meaning:

a. an assemblage of persons

b. assembly, congregation

As we can see these are three things instituted by GOD in the old testament as a place of worship:

a. tabernacle

Exodus 25:9

And you shall make it according to all that I show you, the pattern of the tabernacle or dwelling and the pattern of all the furniture of it.

b. altar

Genesis 8:20

And Noah built an altar to the Lord and took of every clean [four-footed] animal and of every clean fowl or bird and offered burnt offerings on the altar.

c. temple

1 Samuel 3:3

The lamp of God had not yet gone out in the temple of the Lord, where the ark of God was, and Samuel was lying down

d. sanctuary

Exodus 15:17

You will bring them in [to the land] and plant them on Your own mountain, the place, O Lord, You have made for Your dwelling, the sanctuary, O Lord, which Your hands have established.

Synagogue can't be seen in the old testament, it can only be seen as first mentioned in the new testament.

Matthew 12:9

And going on from there, He went into their synagogue.

The preposition used is "their" meaning, it's not GOD's or the LORD's but when the LORD or the gospel writers refer to "temple" it's always preceeded with the word "the"

Matthew 12:5

Or have you never read in the Law that on the Sabbath the priests in the temple violate the sanctity of the Sabbath [breaking it] and yet are guiltless?

Matthew 12:6

But I tell you, Something greater and more exalted and more majestic than the temple is here!
