MAY WE TAKE HEED TO SOME GOOD, GODLY ADVICE

By Wade Martin Hughes, Sr. Kyfingers@aol.com

MANY PEOPLE SEE THINGS THE WAY THEY ARE, AND THEY SAY: "WHY?"

OTHER PEOPLE SEE THINGS THE WAY THEY COULD BE AND SAY: "WHY NOT?"

I. HEED SOME GOOD, GODLY ADVICE...

FRET NOT...

*** A. Fret: something that eats at you, makes you weary, to suffer emotionally, to slowly wear away,

agitation of the mind, vexed, worried, to think about problems and fears, to think something bad

is going to happen, to be anxious, afflict with mental distress,

B. Tell me 10 good benefits of WORRY?

HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE? Loosing friends? Hardening of the arteries? Lost joy?

C. Life has to approaches: 1. We can worry? 2. We can have faith in God?

Psalm 37:1 (KJV) Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the

workers of iniquity.

Psalm 37:1 (NLT) Don’t worry about the wicked or envy those who do wrong.

D. Worry is being focused on yesterday's problems, then carrying a heavy burden today about what

could happen tomorrow?

E. Worry takes molehills and builds mountain chains!

F. A man heard that 1 out of 4 people will die of cancer. He studied and saw how prevalent the

killer cancer can be. FOR 20 YEARS HE WORRIED ABOUT CANCER EVERY DAY.

Cancer became a huge worry to him... GUESS WHAT?

HE DIED AS A YOUNG MAN OF A HEARTATTACK ATTTIBUTED TO WORRY? WOW?

G. Did you hear about the man that was so worried about everything. He had so much to worry

about he kept notes several weeks out about something he did not have time to worry about

today? That way he could remember to worry about the facts later.

Luke 21:26 Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are

coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.

II. HEED SOME GOOD, GODLY ADVICE... TRUST GOD AND DO GOOD...

Psalm 37:3 (KJV) Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily

thou shalt be fed.

Psalm 37:3 (MSG) Get insurance with God and do a good deed, settle down and stick to your last.

*** A. TRUST:

Belief something good, honest and effective is coming, blessed assurance, total reliance,

dependable, a requirement of faith, confidence, you can make it, to rely on...

B. Life is all about SEEDS...

Our enemy knows the value of TOOLS and SEEDS.

One seed our enemy plants often in the hearts of people is THE SEED OF DISCOURAGEMENT.

Seems the seed of discouragement grows everywhere.

But God knows evil seeds CAN NOT GROW AND THRIVE WHERE PEOPLE TRUST GOD'S

PLAN AND PURPOSE.

Depression, discouragement can never thrive in a HEART that is FULL OF TRUST AND FAITH.

PRAISE KILLS SATAN'S SEEDS.

C. TRUST THE FACTS THAT FAITH WILL BE TESTED AND TRIED.

IF BROTHER JOSEPH HAD NOT BEEN IN THE PIT AND IN THE PRISON, HE WOULD HAVE

NEVER FOUND HIS DREAM IN THE PALACE.

Mark 11:22 And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.

D. RECALL CHICKEN LITTLE SCREAMING THE SKY IS FALLING DOWN, WHEN AN ACORN

HIT HIM IN THE HEAD?

E. NEVER FORGET WHAT WE KNOW: We know all things work together for the good.

III. HEED SOME GOOD, GODLY ADVICE... DELIGHT IN GOD'S PLAN...

*** A. DELIGHT: strong feeling of satisfaction and pleasure, something that makes you happy,

joy, gladden, triumph...

Psalm 37:4 Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.

B. QUIT CRYING... JOY IS AN ATTITUDE... A CHOICE...

Nehemiah 8:10 Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send

portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our Lord: neither be ye

sorry; for the joy of the LORD is your strength.

C. JOY IS AN OUTWARD MANIFESTATION OF THE PRESENCE OF A HOLY GOD.

To delight is to recognize good things come from God.

Something is wrong when LIFE BECOMES TOIL, TRIALS AND TROUBLES...

CLAP YOUR HANDS FOR JOY...

IV. HEED SOME GOOD, GODLY ADVICE... FIND GODLY COMMITMENT AS A LOVE...

***A. COMMIT: To place your trust and put in charge, keep for safekeeping, to pledge, accept the

assignment, to find your purpose, have confidence.

Psalm 37:5 (KJV) Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.

Psalm 37:5 (NLT) Commit everything you do to the Lord. Trust him, and he will help you.

B. The farm animals gathered in front of the barn.

They were discussing: WHAT IS FOR BREAKFAST?

The chicken suggested: BACON AND EGGS...

The pig said: Eggs is dedication for you and giving.

Bacon is a COMMITMENT of my life!
