For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost. - Luke 19:10
It seems American Christianity is running from one thing to another, people are trying to find satisfaction, peace and a sense of wholeness. We listen to a teaching, go to a conference, get more books, yet in the end we can feel so empty at times. What is missing? Where are we going wrong? We see in the passage above our Lord gives us an example of what he did in fulfilling the Father’s will, he came for lost people. Is our selfish seeking of spiritual growth possibly a result of the lack of peace we feel? Are we living in a world of selfish self-centered Christianity? Can we be freed from such an unreality? Listen to the words of the late Keith Green who wrote: “Do you see, do you see all the people sinking down? Don't you care, don't you care are you going let them drown? How can you be so numb not to care if they come? You close your eyes and pretend the job's done. Bless me Lord, bless me Lord You know it's all I ever hear. No one aches, no one hurts no one even sheds one tear.”
The world is bursting at the seams, over 2 billion people have never heard of the Name of Jesus. Some estimate 1/4 of the entire population of human beings that have ever existed are living now on earth. What will you do my friend? Will you be gripped with the reality that Jesus is calling us to be lights in this world. The world has no other hope, there is no other solution from God, you are His ambassador. Jesus says for us to follow Him and also be fishers of men (Matthew 4:19). The Church has never expanded without sacrifice, to have a harvest means hard work. We must be willing to be a disciple of the Lord and deny our selfish ways. May the Lord grant a broken heart for the lost and a passion to reach out with the Gospel of our Lord. Lord, please grip us with your heart, allow us to share your tears, your sorrow for the lost millions without hope. Please do not let my life slip away and realize I spent it for myself and not others. Amen.
