Psalm 62:5-7

62:5: My soul, wait in silence for God alone, For my expectation is from him.

62:6: He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress. I will not be shaken.

62:7: With God is my salvation and my honor. The rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God.

a. To Be Influenced By Him

i. Ps 51:10 “Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.”

ii. You become what you understand.

iii. Stopping to spend a moment with God can alter the rest of your life. It can change your course and destiny.

b. To Retreat from the World and Life

i. God is the opposite of what the world represents

ii. There is complete rest, peace, and joy in His arms

iii. He is satisfaction and contentment

iv. His grace is sufficient

c. To Hear His Voice

i. God’s voice is best heard when the other voices in your life are made quiet.

ii. Recognizing His voice takes requires time and practice.

iii. Faith is truly built when God speaks to you personally.

1. In your conscience

5. In your spirit (your gut)

6. In your life – God’s voice manifested

v. Ultimately, we have to hear God to know His will.

d. To Know His Presence

i. Being familiar with God’s presence is essential to living the Christian life.

ii. God is always present – do you always feel Him?

iii. A consciousness of the true and living presence of God builds resistence to sin.

iv. It breaks you, builds you, and ultimately changes you

e. To Fall In Love

i. The response to experiencing the fulness of God is awe, reverence, and admiration

ii. Experiencing the very nature and essence of God’s presence is indescribable

iii. His infinite love is experienced in moments with Him. Those moments define our life as our love for Him grows into an unquenchable fire.

iv. We practice love for God through our love for each other. We must learn to live and love passionately.

f. An Exercise in Love

i. Think of a person in your life that you care about

ii. Take a moment to meditate on the fulness of you love for that person – the strength and depth of that love. Take a moment to fall in love.

iii. Turn that love over to God. Let Him hold it. Love Him for allowing you to ever experience that.

i. For those that want to experience moments with God

ii. For those that can’t imagine loving or being loved like that
