Summary: The Lord's prayer is much more than a prayer guide. It points us to who God is.

TEXT: Matthew 6:12

"And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors."

ALL HAVE SINNED

Sin is trangression against divine law. Any thought, word or action that is contrary to God's law is sin. We are all born sinners. "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God" (Rom 3:23). The wages of sin is death (Rom 6:23). But Jesus came and paid the price for sin. Our father forgives us because:

1. He is love

2. He is merciful

3. He is gracious.

The love, mercy and grace of God will fill your heart in Jesus name.

GOD IS LOVE

Our father in heaven forgives our sins because of his unconditional love for us (agape love). He loves us so much, that he gave his only begotten son as a sin offering for the ransom of mankind from the bondage of sin (John 3:16). Rom 5:8 says: "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Our father is the embodiment of love. "God is love" (1 John 4:16). Know today that God loves you.

GOD EXPECTS HIS CHILDREN TO LOVE AND FORGIVE JUST LIKE HIM

No earthly father loves like our heavenly father. Every child should follow the steps of his/her father, so God expects us to forgive others who offend us. If you don't forgive others, God will not forgive you (Matt 6:14-15). Our father wants us to love others as he loves us, that is how people will know that we are the children of the Almighty God. The love of God in our hearts enable us to forgive others. "Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud

or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance" (1 Cor 13:4-7). The Lord will flood your heart with agape love in Jesus name.

GOD IS MERCIFUL

Our heavenly fathet forgives us because of his abundant mercy (1 Pet 1:3). "So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy (Rom 9:16 KJV). "So it is God who decides to show mercy. We can neither choose it nor work for it" (Rom 9:16 NLT). Our heavenly father says he will have mercy upon whom he will have mercy. We live because of his mercy. His mercies are new every morning. He shows mercy to both the godly and ungodly. "It is of the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness" (Lam 3:22-23). God is merciful. He is compassionate.

The spirit of God's mercy will speak for you in your time of need in Jesus name.

GOD IS GRACIOUS

Our heavenly father is gracious. His grace is so amazing. Grace is God's unmerited favour. His grace opens the door for the forgiveness of our sins. We are saved by GRACE - God's Riches At Christ Expense. Ephesians 2:5,8) says: "Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;). For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:" Our father in heaven is the God of grace. His grace will be sufficient for you in Jesus name. He forgives us because of his grace. The grace you need to let go and forgive others God will grant to you in Jesus name.

YOU MUST FORGIVE OTHERS

God's grace, mercy and love paved the way for the forgiveness of our sins through the blood of Jesus. God forgives our sins (debts) and desires that his children forgive those who offend them.

PRAYER:

Father, let you love, grace and mercy follow me all the days of my life in Jesus name.

DECREE:

My sins are forgiven. I am a new creature in Christ.

God bless you. Shalom.
