Summary: The Lord's prayer is much more than a prayer guide. It helps us to know more about our father in heaven.
TEXT: Matthew 6:13
"And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen."
Temptation is an act of being enticed to do evil by arguments, flattery or by the offer of real or apparent good. The objective of the tempter is to cause the one being tempted to do evil or commit sin (James 1:14). The Lord will strengthen you against evil enticements from Satan in Jesus name.
GOD HATES SIN
Our father in heaven hates sin. He will not entice or induce anyone to do something that is contrary to his will. He does not tempt people to do evil (James 1:13). Satan is the tempter (Matt 4: 1,13). Temptation must visit every child of God, it is one of the weapons Satan uses to cause the children of God to go against the will of God. He used it against Eve and succeeded. He tried it against Jesus and failed. He still goes to and fro the earth tempting men and women. Satan will not succeed against you in Jesus name.
GOD'S ESCAPE ROUTE FROM TEMPTATION.
A father who loves his children unconditionally will not allow them to face temptation without providing a means of overcoming it. God allows Satan to tempt his children, but not above what their faith can carry. "The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure" (1 Cor 10:13). We can also pray to our heavenly father to help us not to fall into temptation. Jesus told his disciples in Mark 14:38: "Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak." The God that delivered Peter from being sifted by Satan will deliver you. The Lord will intervene and intercede for you in Jesus name.
A TEST FOR CHILDREN
God use the temptations of Satan as a means of evaluating the faithfulness of his children. When we overcome, God is delighted; but when we fall, he chastises us and forgives us when we cry to him for mercy. David fell, when Satan tempted him with the nakedness of Bethsheba, but he cried for mercy and God restored the joy of his salvation (Psalms 51:1-12).
OVERCOMERS BY THE BLOOD OF JESUS
The spirit of God's mercy will speak for you in your time of need in Jesus name. You will not fall. You will overcome by the blood of the lamb. You will testify of your victory in Jesus name.
O Lord, our Father, help us not to yield to Satan's temptations. Strengthen us to overcome and open our eyes to see the way of escape you provide in Jesus name.
I will overcome by the blood of Jesus.
God bless you. Shalom.
