Summary: When our relationship becomes personal.

My Father June 19, 2011

Matthew 6:9-13

I read about a small boy who was consistently late coming home from school. His parents warned him one day that he must be home on time that afternoon, but nevertheless he arrived later than ever. His mother met him at the door and said nothing.

At dinner that night, the boy looked at his plate. There was a slice of bread and a glass of water. He looked at his father’s full plate and then at his father, but his father remained silent. The boy was crushed.

The father waited for the full impact to sink in, then quietly took the boy’s plate and placed it in front of himself. He took his own plate of meat and potatoes, put it in front of the boy, and smiled at his son. When that boy grew to be a man, he said, ’All my life I’ve known what God is like by what my father did that night.""

Matt. 6:9-13-After this manner therefore pray ye:

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil:

For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

After this manner therefore pray ye:

My Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Isaiah 64;8-But now, O Lord, You are our Father; We are the clay, and You our potter; And all we are the work of Your hand.

1 John 3:1-2-Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him. Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.

Romans 8:14-For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.

Galatians 4:4-7-But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law,

to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons.

And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, “Abba, Father!”

Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.

Jesus didn’t die just so that you could have a relationship with God. He died so that you could have a relationship with the Father.

“Our Father” speaks of God’s Fatherly care toward us His children

Someone told a preacher, “You don’t pray very good!” What kind of person says that to a another person?

We are not talking to individuals when we pray, we are talking to our heavenly Father!

That is why I believe that God hears my prayers, not because of the words I use or the length of the prayer or even if I feel it only reached the ceiling, I believe God hears my prayers and answers my prayers because He’s my Father!

Which Art In Heaven, Hallowed Be Thy Name.

Job 22:12-14-“Is not God in the height of heaven? And see the highest stars, how lofty they are!

And you say, ‘What does God know? Can He judge through the deep darkness?

Thick clouds cover Him, so that He cannot see, And He walks above the circle of heaven.’

Ecclesiastes 5:2-Do not be rash with your mouth, And let not your heart utter anything hastily before God. For God is in heaven, and you on earth; Therefore let your words be few.

Lets Learn To Speak Less And Say More.

GIVE US THIS DAY OUR DAILY BREAD:

Matthew 6:31-32-“Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.”

Once there was a rich man who had a son to whom he promised an annual allowance. Every year on the same day, he would give his son the entire amount. After a while, it happened that the only time the father saw his son was on the day of allowance. So the father changed his plan and only gave the son enough for the day. Then the next day the son would return. From then on, the father saw his son every day. This is the way God dealt with Israel. It is the way God deals
