New Bottles and Old Wine. Luke 5:36-39 And He spake also a parable unto them, No man putteth a piece of a new garment upon an old, if otherwise, then both the new maketh a rent, and the piece that was taken out of the new agreeth not with the old. And no man putteth new wine into old bottles..... The old spirit of man cannot be put into the body of a new christian. The spirit must be changed. Thats why a lot of new christians have yet to become at ease with their new life, the old is still trying to live in the new. Lets take a walk throu the Bible for a moment ,lets look at Joseph , Genesis 37:6-11 Joseph , had an anointing, and it was from God in two dreams. Not Just dreams, but dreams of Power and greatness. So just what is an anointing, well Joseph recieved a special endowment or gift from God. We wont go throu all the story of Joseph, just a few highlights. Many in scripture recieved an anointing, but lets look at Joseph. He recieved an anointing to become great within his own family, his dreams fortold that, his brothers and father would bow before him and that he would have great power. I bet this gave Joseph a great swelling of pride within himself, I say he was praseing God as he walked to get his brothers, thinking unto himself, this is great. But what happened to him , He was sold as a slave, not only that but later, he was thrown into prison. what had he gotten himself into? He was to be a leader, a powerful man, a man of esteme, but here he sat in prison, with his anointing. Just because you have an anointing, doesnt mean life is going to be a piece of cake.It has to be earned and worked and nurtured. Do you believe that you have an anointing on your life to do something? Teach, preach, evangelise, sing , then if you do, do something about it. Ask your pastor to help you. Dont let the anointing pass to someone else, use it, to the glory of God. But when you recieve the anointing then you recieve the new spirit that goes along with it. That new wine, that wont fill a old bottle. New wine is still firminting and it produces gas, it expands, and when it expands if the bottle is old, it will resist expansion and it will burst, ruining the bottle and spilling the wine, both are lost. So we put new wine, or the spirit of God, into a new bottle, or a new person, so that both will be presurved. When Jesus told Nicodemus, that he had to be born again, this is what he ment, He had to change that old bottle, into a new one so that the new covenment would fit. The new testiment of Jesus wont fit into the old law but it must be put into the spirit of man as new, replaceing the old, as a better covenment, a better promise, built on mercy and not judgement. Have you ever had a Rema Word from God, and tried to share it with someone else? Did they resist it? Thats what happens to people when they become so set in their ways that even if Jesus Himself were to tell them something, they wouldnt accept it. Some people have been taught the scriptures, wrong, for so long that they take it as truth. We hafe to be careful not to get into a posistion that when a revelation from God comes, that we are so self centered that we are not willing to accept the truth.Look at John 3:11, Verily,Verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen, and ye recieve not our witness. The word ,verily, means, of a truth, an anointing is the truth of God working thru, us. So you ask, How do I know that I have an anointing? Your spirit will concure with someone elses spirit and it will be comfirmed. Look at 2nd Timothy 4: 5, Timothy had an anointing as a minister and pastor but Paul also told Him to do the work of an evangelist, Timothys anointing went farther than, even He expected. Once you have accepted the responsibility of your specific anointing then God may add to it, to further His will in your life.Anointings are for those that will accept them, not to their glory, but to the glory of God. Jesus told the deciples to pray, to the Lord of the harvest, to send laboures into the field, are you willing to accept that new wine, and put it into a new bottle, are you willing to accept an anointing from God to do those things that may bring someone else to Jesus? Then, young Christians, dont be afraid to ask for help, in changeing that old bottle into a brand new one, and older Christians, accept the anointing that God has called you into, help the younger, encourage them and nurture them ,as you would your own children. and then soon ,we will all have the new wine in new bottles and we will all be presurved. ars.
