Summary: A message on encouragement in the midst of suffering.

Nine Facets Of The Christian Life I Peter

I. The Christian Life Is Salvation

1 Peter 1:18-19

18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;

19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:

II. The Christian Life Is Growth

1 Peter 2:2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:

III. The Christian Life Is Offering Spiritual Sacrifices

1 Peter 2:5 Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

IV. The Christian Life Is Being God’s Chosen People

1 Peter 2:9a “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people;…”

V. The Christian Life Is Witnessing

1 Peter 2:9b “….that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:”

VI. The Christian Life Is Living As God’s Servant

1 Peter 2:16 As free, and not using your liberty for a cloke of maliciousness, but as the servants of God.

VII. The Christian Life Involves Suffering

1 Peter 4:12-13, 19

12 Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:

13 But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.

19 Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.

VIII. The Christian Life Involves Fighting Satan

1 Peter 5:6-9

6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:

7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

9 Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.

IX. The Christian Life Is Being Strong And Firm In God

1 Peter 5:10 But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.
