Summary: Prior to elections, there are several debates to aid us in selecting a leader. However; there has never been a debate about who’s the God of this universe.
INTRODUCTION: A week ago, I shared a lesson on the Throne of God. Amid the debate concerning the presidency; I wish to remind you that God is God, without debate or input from anyone. He is sovereign; meaning He is the high ruler. He is God by self ordination and appointment. The earthly leaders are but instruments in our Father’s hand. They can do no more than He allows. What great consolation!
I. The King Can’t Do Anything without God’s Approval.
21 The king’s heart is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will…
II. God will make the King Take Care of the Church.
1 Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled, the LORD stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and put it also in writing, saying,
2 Thus saith Cyrus king of Persia, The LORD God of heaven hath given me all the kingdoms of the earth; and he hath charged me to build him an house at Jerusalem, which is in Judah.
III. God Promotes One and Puts Down Another.
5 Lift not up your horn on high: speak not with a stiff neck.
6 For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south.
7 But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another.
IV. God Raised Up Pharaoh to Show His Power.
For the scripture says unto Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised you up, that I might show my power in you, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth.
V. Everything Hinges On God’s Mercy.
So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.
VI. God cares for both: the Poor and Those who Share with them.
He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the Lord; and that which he hath given will he pay him again.
VII. God Displays Mercy on Whom He Wills.
Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will have mercy, and whom he will he hardeneth.
VIII. God is working all things after the Counsel of His own Will.
In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his won will.
IX. God does what Pleases Him.
Whatsoever the LORD pleased, that did he in heaven, and in earth, in the seas, and all deep places.
X. God’s Kingdom Rules over All.
The LORD hath prepared his throne in the heavens; and his kingdom rules over all.
XI. God is Over the Money.
But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for [it is] he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as [it is] this day.
XII. God Owns the Oil.
The earth is the LORD’s, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.
XIII. Everything Exist for God’s Pleasure.
16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.
XIV. God is Running This Thing.
And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding.
Conclusion: The Mayor has some power. The governor has some power. Congress has some power. The Commander in Chief has some power. There is much debate concerning their power. But God has all power without debate.
