No Mas!

John 1:29

On November 25, 1980 in New Orleans, Sugar Ray Leonard and Roberto Duran fought their second of three fights. In that fight, Duran, in the 8th round said those now famous words, “no mas, no mas.” In other words, he said, no more, no more. He was done, finished. Think about those words, “No mas.” No more. Because Jesus shed His blood on our behalf, there are several things that have said, so to speak, “No mas, no mas.” Let’s see what they might be.

First, there is no more need of an offering—Hebrews 10:10ff.

Second, there is no more Law—Romans 3:28; Gal. 5:18

Third, there is no more past life—2 Corin. 5:17

Fourth, there is no more guilt for forgiven sins—John 1:29—Hebrews 10:17

Fifth, there is no more condemnation for those in Christ—Romans 8:1

Sixth, there is no more loneliness—John 14:18

Seventh, there is no more fear of death—Hebrews 2:15; 1 Corin. 15:55

These are just some of the things, Jesus’ blood has brought about for us. Now, all that lacks is for us to say “No mas” to the world and follow Jesus with a whole heart. Is there any area of your life that you haven’t said no more to? Won’t you do so this evening? After all, look at what Christ has done for you.
