Summary: We face many difficulties in life but we can learn from Genesis 18:14 that nothing is to hard for our Lord. We must trust Him in the difficult times.

Nothing is to hard for our Lord

Genesis 18:14 “Is anything to hard for the Lord”

v Have you ever felt like you just can’t do something?

v Like maybe you aren’t smart enough, or talented enough, or strong enough to do a particular task, or to do what you know the Lord wants you to do?

v Have you ever thought that something just can’t be done, its impossible?

v Maybe you are here and you feel like your life is hopeless, and your circumstances will never change.

v Perhaps you have been praying for a loved one and it seems like they will never get their life together, or that they will never get saved.

If any of these situations describe you today, You are not alone!!! God’s word says, “Is anything to hard for the Lord?” My friends the answer to that question is absolutely not, nothing is to hard for the Lord!

We need to only take our seemingly hopeless situations to the Lord, trust Him, commit them to Him, and allow Him to do what we cannot.

Are there situations that are to hard for us? Yes, but not for God.

A young, new preacher was walking with an older more seasoned preacher in the garden one day and he was feeling a insecure about what God had for him to do. So he inquired of the older preacher. This older preacher walked up to a rose bush and then handed the young preacher a rosebud and told him to open it without tearing off any petals.

The young preacher looked in disbelief at the older preacher and was trying to figure out what a rosebud could possibly have to do with his wanting to know the will of God for his life and for his ministry. Because of high respect for the older preacher, he proceeded to try to unfold the rose, while keeping every petal intact…it wasn’t long before he realized how it was impossible to do so.

Noticing the young preachers inability to unfold the rosebud while keeping it intact, the older preacher began to tell the following poem.

“It is only a tiny rosebud,

A flower of God’s design;

But I cannot unfold the petals’

With these clumsy hands of mine.

The secret of unfolding flowers

Is not to such as I.

God opens this flower so sweetly,

When in my hands they fade and die.

If I cannot unfold a rosebud,

This flower of God’s design,

Then how can I think I have wisdom

To unfold this life of mine.

So I will trust in him for his leading

Each moment of every day.

I will look to him for guidance

Each step of the pilgrim way.

The pathway that lies before me,

Only my Heavenly Father knows.

I’ll trust Him to unfold the moments,

Just as He unfolds the rose.

Can you identify with this young preacher? I know that I can. Not knowing what my future holds is unsettling at best for me right now, as I am sure it is for many of you. But tonight I want you to know that we can trust God to lead us, to provide for us, we can trust him with everything because nothing is to hard for him.

Let me tell you about my God…

v *My God not only created this world and everything in it out of nothing, but he also stuck around to love that creation and provide a way of salvation for every man, woman, and child.

v *My God, the God who provides salvation is also a caring God. In Isaiah 41:10 he says, “Fear not, for I am with you, don’t be dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen you and will help you with my righteous right hand.”

v *My God, the God who strengthens us is also a comforting God caring about even the sorrows that we go through. 2 Corinthians1:3-5….

v *My God, the God who comforts even teaches us to pray, and his son intercedes for us. Romans 8:26-28.

v *He is the God that helps us when we are suffering

v *He is the God that gives us guidance in times when a crucial decision must me made.

v *He is the God that protects us in times of danger.

v *He is the God that gives us courage in times of fear, peace in times of turmoil, rest in times of weariness, strength in times of temptation, warnings in times of indifference, and forgiveness - whenever we ask.

Is anything to hard for the Lord? No! I think not!

For from the time of creation until this day, He has never broken a promise, never acted unjustly, deceitful, or unloving.

In Psalms 99:9 it says that the Lord is Holy, in 1 Timothy it says that He is eternal, immortal, invisible and the only wise God. In Isaiah 45 it says that there is no other God and that we are to look to Him to be saved.
