Summary: Precious is defined as something or someone who is of great value and highly esteemed, or even delicate, which is our God in our daily lives.

How we describe our GOD? Alphabetically, HE is Able, He is Beautiful, He is Caring, He is Delightful, He is Eternal, He is our Father, He is Great, He is our Hallelujah, He is our Inheritance, He is our Judge and Joy, He is our Keeper, He is our Love, He is our Mercy-Full, He is our Majesty, He is our New Life, He is our One and Only God. And today we see Him as Precious as that is what He sees in us.

Psalms 116:15 says, "Precious in the sight of our Lord God, is the death of His saints." (KJV) The Good News Bible uses the word differently as "Oh how painful it is when God sees when His loved one dies." In other words, God is feeling the hurt and pain when one dies! In our vocabulary, "precious" means highly regarded, and costly.

In a world where life is like an animal that needs to be destroyed, God shows us every life matters and is precious to Him.

When the persecutions of the early Christians were happening, the world saw life as vipers and wild beasts, foxes and wolves. During that time the Apostle Peter wrote to those persecuted Christians and used the word "precious" 5 times. I Peter 2:3, "You have tasted that the Lord is gracious . . . chosen of God, and precious. . . a chief cornerstone and precious. . . " I Peter 1:19, But with the precious blood of Christ 2 Peter 1:1 that we have obtained a precious faith . . vs. 4, we have been given exceedingly great and precious promise. " But the one I love the most is from 1 Peter 1:7, "That the trail of your faith, being more precious than gold. . . though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honor and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ."

When our world loves songs like Jerry Butler's "Precious Love" describing his love for his wife and J.B.F.Wright gave us the beautiful hymn, "PRECIOUS MEMORIES" in 1925. Born in Tennessee in 1877, became a Church of God preacher and wrote these words, "spontaneously, flowing into place when he felt the divine urge. Now sung by so many others, Johnny Cash, Alan Jackson, Daniel O'Donnell, George Jones and Bob Dylan.

"Precious mem'ries, unseen angels Sent from somewhere to my soul . . .

How they linger ever near me . . . And the sacred past unfold . . .

Chorus: Precious mem'ries how they linger How they ever flood my soul. . .

In the stillness of the night . . . Precious, sacred scenes unfold.

Amen . . . OUR GOD IS PRECIOUS! Thank you for letting us worship and praise YOU!
