Intro: One of things the devil likes to do is discourage believers. He deceives them into thinking that being a Christian means losing up more than gaining. Today I want to encourage true Christian believers in Christ. We ought to rejoice in the Lord for we are very rich in Christ. Today I want us to look at our inheritance as children of God. Read Eph. 1:18.

1. Our Inheritance Includes A New Glorified Body.

We’re going to get a brand new resurrection body at the Rapture. (I Cor. 15:50-53; I Thess. 4:16-17; Phil. 3:20-21; I John 3:2). Can you imagine what that’s worth? Most professing Christians have no idea what they’ll inherit. How much it’s worth? Thanks to modern science and medicine, it is now possible to donate the following: blood, skin, bones, bone marrow, corneas, kidney, partial liver, partial lung, heart, pancreas, and veins. A few years ago, a study made by the American Health Care Financing Administration (AHCFA) came up with the following Medical Care estimates:

a) Kidney transplant averages $50,000;

b) Heart transplants often exceed $100,000;

c) Lung transplant is about $150,000;

d) Pancreas transplant is about $170,000;

e) Bone marrow transplant averages $190,000;

f) Liver transplant surgery about $500,000.

Truly, HEALTH IS WEALTH! What about the trip God is going to take us on right after He changes us? The Apollo 11 Moon Landing costs US 40 billion dollars in 1969! Just imagine what it would cost to go to heaven? What a great inheritance we have!

2. Our Inheritance Includes Eternal Life Support.

A 10-day cardiac treatment costs about $18,000. Our inheritance is worth far more than that. Our inheritance is reserved in heaven! (I Pet. 1:4-5) I don’t know how much an Adoption costs these days but I’m sure it isn’t cheap. Our inheritance also includes a Father and Son relationship. That’s worth a lot! A son of God is rich (John 1:12; Rev. 21:7). Don’t be deceived by preachers that talk about persevering to the end to overcome (cf. I John 5:4-5). When God saved us, He gave us life that will never end. It is everlasting life!

3. Our Inheritance Includes A Mansion In Heaven.

(John 14:2-3). It is God’s promise and it is true. The hymn writer says it well. “I’ve got a mansion just over the hilltop, in that bright land where we’ll never grow old, and some day yonder, we’ll never more wonder, but walk on streets that are purest gold!” Nothing so beautiful since the world began can compare with what God has prepared for us (I Cor. 2:9).

4. What About the Personal Inheritance We Are Leaving Behind Our Children? (Prov. 13:22)

What kind of inheritance are you leaving behind? We have kids come to our church today who come from homes where the Bible and godliness are not taken seriously because of –

a) Parents who never bring their kids to church;

b) Parents who never pray with their kids;

c) Parents who have never taught the Bible to their kids;

d) Parents who never love Jesus and His church;

e) Parents who never put God first in their lives.

What shall we leave to our children? What will they inherit?

a) Many kids inherit dirty and evil vices from parents.

b) Many kids inherit selfish habits from parents.

c) Many kids inherit materialistic outlook from parents.

d) Many kids inherit poor testimony from parents!

e) Many kids inherit God’s curse from parents.

Conclusion: Dear parents, we ought to be living for the Lord! Many parents are not even aware of it, but they are gradually destroying their own homes by setting bad examples of worldliness and materialism to their unsuspecting children. If we want to see our children become faithful to the Lord, we must first be truly loyal and fully sold out to God! Beware how you conduct your life in the present for in the future your children will duplicate your deeds! What inheritance are you leaving behind when you die? You may not leave millions of pesos, lands, houses, businesses, etc. to your children, but you can leave them your good and godly example. It all begins when you trust God through a personal relationship with Jesus.
