VIII. MAIN BODY:

A. Follow Sound Teaching according to Paul's Example

"Hold fast and follow the pattern of wholesome and sound teaching which you have heard from me,"

Wholesome and sound teaching is based on what you've heard from Paul's life.

Pauline's teaching:

1. It is more blessed to give than to receive:

It's always not money, but we can give our lives for others.

Acts 20:35 (Amplified Bible)

In everything I have pointed out to you [by example] that, by working diligently in this manner, we ought to assist the weak, being mindful of the words of the Lord Jesus, how He Himself said, It is more blessed (makes one happier and more to be envied) to give than to receive.

2. Imitate Paul's methods of proceeding, course of conduct and way of life in CHRIST

1 Corinthians 4:16-17 (Amplified Bible)

So I urge and implore you, be imitators of me.

For this very cause I sent to you Timothy, who is my beloved and trustworthy child in the Lord, who will recall to your minds my methods of proceeding and course of conduct and way of life in Christ, such as I teach everywhere in each of the churches.

3. Follow Paul's example:

Philippians 3:17 (Amplified Bible)

Brethren, together follow my example and observe those who live after the pattern we have set for you.

B. In all faith in CHRIST JESUS

"in [all] the faith"

Faith in CHRIST JESUS secures our salvation.

1. We have passed from death to life when we believe, trusts, clings, relies on our LORD JESUS CHRIST

John 5:24 (Amplified Bible)

I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, the person whose ears are open to My words [who listens to My message] and believes and trusts in and clings to and relies on Him Who sent Me has (possesses now) eternal life. And he does not come into judgment [does not incur sentence of judgment, will not come under condemnation], but he has already passed over out of death into life.

2. CHRIST JESUS is our Resurrection and the Life

John 11:25 (Amplified Bible)

Jesus said to her, I am [Myself] the Resurrection and the Life. Whoever believes in (adheres to, trusts in, and relies on) Me, although he may die, yet he shall live;

3. Word of GOD was written so that we will believe in JESUS CHRIST

John 20:31 (Amplified Bible)

But these are written (recorded) in order that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ (the Anointed One), the Son of God, and that through believing and cleaving to and trusting and relying upon Him you may have life through (in) His name [through Who He is].

4. CHRIST JESUS is our Light, we no longer live in darkness

John 12:46 (Amplified Bible)

I have come as a Light into the world, so that whoever believes in Me [whoever cleaves to and trusts in and relies on Me] may not continue to live in darkness.

C. In love with CHRIST JESUS

"and love which are [for us] in Christ Jesus"

1. We are motivated to quickly obey because of His Love for us.

John 14:15-16 (Amplified Bible)

If you [really] love Me, you will keep (obey) My commands.

And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, and Standby), that He may remain with you forever—

1 John 4:10 (Amplified Bible)

In this is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation (the atoning sacrifice) for our sins.
