Summary: As we have the Light of Life, we are overcomers in Christ and positive winners in Christ Jesus

“for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith” (1 John 5:4).

“I am a victor in Christ Jesus… I am an Overcomer… Nothing in my circumstances… Nothing what people say or do will affect my faith” – proclaimed aloud these words whenever you’re discouraged or in a difficult situation and you would find yourself a ‘Winner’ . This is my very own personal truth. I’m humbled to say that even impossible situations have become positively possible and favorable situations when I had proclaimed “I’m a positive winner in Christ Jesus!”. Though there are several instances wherein this has evidentially come true, I have cited one such memorable incident here for God’s glory:

Sometime ago prior to my ordination, I have received a call to participate in a 3-day workshop in related matters which was held several Kms away from where I stay. This sudden invitation posed a perplexing situation since at that point of time all my family members, friends & well-wishers where all in very busy schedules to be able to get-away from their places of work to accompany me for this workshop. However, in absolute faith I proclaimed “I’m a positive winner in Christ Jesus… I’m an overcomer…. Nothing is impossible for me because of my Jesus” and I proceeded to attend the said 3-day 9am to 4pm workshop totally on my own successfully. This may sound a simple ordinary exercise but for me, a total visually impaired person who can hardly get to the ‘staircase’ in my building, it was a miracle by Christ Jesus.

When most Christians face problematic situations they get too emotional and they expect God to be constantly on their side placing His hands over their shoulders & cry over them in sympathy. Yes, God does cry for us in compassion. Remember John 11:35 when Jesus wept looking at the tears of sorrow running down the cheeks of the distraught & mourning sisters Martha & Mary? But we all know that in the next few moments Jesus miraculously resurrected Lazarus and solved their problem. God reacts similarly to us too. But God would not keep on crying over our shoulders everytime. He has bigger things to offer us. We must open our hearts, souls & spirits and see in faith what God has to offer us. Focus your eyes upon the word of God in faith and let the word of God guide you & lead you during your times of difficulties. “Faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ” (Romans 10:17).

As long as Peter focus his eyes upon Jesus, he was able to walk on the water of Lake Galilee. Other than Jesus, Peter was the only one ever to have lived on earth who had walk on waters like the Lord did. But the moment he took his eyes off Jesus and looked at the waves & wind, he began to sink & drown. Same thing happens to us all the time. As long as we are focused on Jesus, we are able to walk on & through our troubled waters but the moment we take our eyes off Him, we begin to sink being engulfed and consumed in our troubles, turbulence & problems. As long as our eyes look upon Jesus the Author & Finisher of our faith, we can sail through any storm as the apostles did in John 6:21 where Jesus comes walking towards them on the water saying , “It is I don’t be afraid”.

“The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life” (John 6:63). Indeed the words of Jesus have life. He is Life. Jesus is the Word and the Word of God is Jesus. Focus on the word of God whenever you are discouraged and proclaim “I am a positive winner I Christ… I’m an overcomer in Christ Jesus”. And I can assure you that you would reap miraculous results. You will be a victor in Christ Jesus. “For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he” (Prov. 23:7) and when you think & believe that you are a positive winner in Christ, you would be a positive winner. When we focus ourselves in the word of God, the Holy Spirit takes control and moves within us empowering us to be positive winners & overcomers in Christ Jesus. It is a new feeling of enlightenment that is so unique and divine.

Start taking God’s words and apply it to your situation. Start speaking the word of God and empower yourselves up in the spirit of God. Speak the word of God and build yourselves up positively. And start proclaiming that you are a positive winner in Christ, you are an overcomer in Christ Jesus. That is all you have to do.
