Summary: Knowing the Power that is in the Blood

Intro: As we look at this passage of scripture, we see that Jesus and his disciples are preparing for the Last Supper. While they are sitting there Jesus lifts up the cup and begins to enlighten and educate the brethren about the blood of the New Covenant and that his blood is adequate, suitable, and sufficient for whatever we need. Although in the days of old, they used different animals to try and meet the need, but the blood from the bulls, the doves, and the goat were not sufficient enough to handle the task the was at hand.

Although, the plasma, the body fluid, and the lifeblood of the animals were used for four thousand, these creatures had not met the greatest requirement of accomplishing that which was needed of the law. Jesus wanted the fellows to know that his blood is sufficient, his blood is what was needed; it was his blood that was required for the task at hand.

What he needed them to know is that his blood has healing power, his blood has saving power, and he wanted them to know that his blood could deliver them and set them free. He wanted them to know that his has Revitalization power, which means that he could renew, his blood is Therapeutic which means that he can relax you in a time of crisis, his blood has a Defense mechanism, which means that he can provide a security shield around you. His blood has a Relief valve so that when the pressures of life become build up, that’s when he would tell you to cast all of your care upon him. His blood has the power to Strengthen you when you are weak and to bring about Conversion, change and transformation.

How do you know Spies, I know because there is power, power wonder working power, in the precious blood of the Lamb of God. There is power to take away the sins of the world.

I know this because Ephesians 1:6-7 says “To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved. In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;”

I know because 1st John 1:7 says “But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin”.

I know because 1st Peter 1:18-19 says “Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: His Blood has the power to Redeem. So, I know that the blood, somebody say the blood. The blood of Jesus freed us from the curse of sin and death.

I. So not only does his blood redeem us but

II. His Blood has the Power to Transform

When the blood of Jesus is applied in our lives it will make some of the meanest, most dreadful and most hateful sinners become transformed, and when they become transformed it will change their mind, their heart and their spirit. When the Blood is applied they will become transformed body, soul and spirit into a new creature formed in the image of God’s Holiness, and I don’t care how bad you’ve been God can change you. I don’t care how low you have stooped God can change you.

Saul was a murderer, that tried to destroy the church of the living God, and he had an encounter with the power of that blood and was forever transformed into “Paul, an apostle of Christ”

The thief on the cross had an encounter with the power of the blood of Jesus, and was transformed from that of a condemned man, into a saint waiting for the dwelling in Paradise.

There is not a soul so far gone that the power of the blood of Jesus cannot transform their sinful nature into the desire for the holiness of God.

That’s why Isaiah 1:18 says “Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool”.

I. So not only does his blood redeem us but

II. His Blood has the Power to Transform

III. His Blood has The Power To Give Life

Understand that Blood is our source of life; without it coursing through our veins life will cease in this physical body. You cannot survive without blood. Without the blood of Christ applied to our spirit & soul we are bound for the certainty of the second death
