Summary: Peace the fruit of the spirit

“Peace” The Fruit of the Spirit” Part 3

July 13, 2003 AM, - Danny Williams

Galatians 5:22 - John 14:26-27

There are some people who have peace with God, (Salvation)as far as relationship but no peace of God in fellowship.

Romans 5:1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:

This is the only place in the entire bible (where it says we have peace with God)

But this morning I want to show you what it means to have the peace of God.

Look with me at

John 14:26-27 But the Comforter, [which is] the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

Vs. 27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world gives, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Now, Let’s review:

In order to really see the value of this,

Remember, Jesus has already told them he is leaving, and He knows he is facing the Cross, so that set’s the seen for us

Vs. 26 – Holy Spirit

In many Place through out the Bible we see Jesus attribute different Names to the Holy Spirit,

He is described as

Counselor, Spirit of Truth Vs. 16-18

Described as Holy One

Guide – Chap 16:13

And also– as Teacher

One of the Special Ministry of the Holy Spirit is one of Teaching,

Vs. 26 Teach you all things….

So He has a teaching Ministry –

But also a reminding Ministry- See: They were not taught all things, But reminded of all things Jesus said to them.

See: It is possible to be well educated, and still forget, what God Has said.

Follow me:

Jesus is about to leave, but this is his first mention of Peace in his departure to his disciples.

See: It is not totally unexpected.

Because: Peace is a result of the Coming of the Holy Spirit.

Gal. 5:22 Fruit of the Spirit

Greek word Peace Means Tranquility or Harmony

How many of you know that in order for Peace to Come,

The Holy Spirit Has to Come:

Three ways

1. In Truth – God given Revelation

2. In Teaching –

3. In Testimony’s or reminding

Jesus, Reminds us of the source of Peace,

Not the Peace of the World,, and as someone has well said,

Therefore it is not the peace they can take away

It’s a Supernatural Peace……

This kind of Peace is not the absents of Problems,

YOU WILL NEVER HAVE THE ABSENCES OF PROBLEMS

As long as you are on this earth,

You are not going to have the absents of Problems

But, Peace is the Addition of Power

How do we get this kind of Peace?

Peace comes two ways:

1. Through an Intimate knowledge of God. (A God in control of all)

2. Peace is entirely Independent of Circumstances.

Left Peace and Given Peace:

Objective & Subjective

He says I leave you peace –(Objective) A Legacy of Peace - My Death on the Cross Atonement

I give you peace –(Subjective) I’m Leaving it with you. By, the Indwelling of the Holy Spirit.

That’s what We have.

History of Peace

In New Testament times the normal way to say good-bye was Peace

Or to as a greeting

Or used to show relationships between man or Nations

But Peace is The spiritual Well Being of Believers

As a message of Salvation: peace in Relation to God and Man

(Peace) is the Hebrew word Shalom means wholeness, completeness, health, security, even prosperity in the best sense. When you are enjoying God’s peace, there is joy and contentment.

But God’s peace is not like the “peace” that the world offers.

The world bases its peace on its resources,

while God’s peace depends on relationships.

To be right with God means to enjoy the peace of God.

The world depends on personal ability,

but the Christian depends on spiritual adequacy in Christ.

In the world, peace is something you hope for or work for;

but to the Christian, peace is God’s wonderful gift,

received by faith.

Unsaved people enjoy peace when there is an absence of trouble;

Christians enjoy peace in spite of trials because of the presence of power,

the Holy Spirit.

Romans 14:17 For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.

Romans 14:18 For he that in these things serves Christ, [is] acceptable to God, and approved of men.

Romans 14:19 Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another.

As some one said Men – want peace, They just don’t want the things that make for peace.
