Summary: We should continually offer a sacrifice of praise.

Praise God!

October 3, 2007 Wednesday Service

Immanuel Baptist Church, Wagoner, OK

Rick Boyne

Message Point: We should continually offer a sacrifice of praise.

Focus Passage: Hebrews 13:15-15

I. Praise Action #1 – Confess the Name of Jesus

a. “Oh Lord, touch the unsaved with Thy finger.” As he intoned this phrase in this particular prayer, he stopped short. Other members came to his side and asked if he were ill. “No,” he replied, “but something seemed to say to me, “Thou art the finger.” The man is right. We are the finger of God that is responsible for touching the unsaved, and we cannot touch them if we never proclaim the Name of Jesus.

b. We get scared. Think we might be labeled as ‘religious fanatic’. Burning building example.

II. Praise Action #2 – Do Good

a. What is good?

b. Jesus told the rich young ruler to obey the commandments AND give to the poor.

c. James tells us to take care of the widows and orphans.

III. Praise Action #3 – Share with others

a. Prov. 14:31: Those who oppress the poor insult their Maker, but those who are kind to the needy honor him.

b. Be kind to the poor. Prov. 19:17

IV. Praise Action #4 – Obey those over you. What does this mean?

a. Do everything they expect of you without grumbling or complaining. Romans 13:1-7, Ephesians 6:1-9, and 1 Peter 2:13-15 are just a couple of examples of where we are commanded to do what those above us tell us to do.

b. Do everything they tell you to the best of your abilities. Colossians 3:23 tells us, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.”
