Matthew 21:22 (New Living Translation, Second Edition)

VI. TITLE:

Pray In Faith

VII. EXPLICATION:

A. Author: Apostle Matthew (also called Levi)

B. Audience: Jews

C. Keyword: Fulfilled

D. Purpose: To show that JESUS of Nazareth was the kingly Messiah of Jewish prophecy

VIII. MAIN BODY:

A. Pray for anything (Mark 11:24, John 14:13, John 15:7, John 16:24, 1 John 3:22, 1 John 5:14-15)

1. all things came Greek word: pas meaning: all, any, every, the whole, whatsoever, whosoever, connoting that we can pray for anything, everything or anyone we want to pray for.

Mark 11:24 (New Living Translation, Second Edition)

I tell you, you can pray for anything, and if you believe that you’ve received it, it will be yours.

John 14:13 (New Living Translation, Second Edition)

You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it, so that the Son can bring glory to the Father.

John 15:7 (New Living Translation, Second Edition)

But if you remain in me and my words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted!

John 16:24 (New Living Translation, Second Edition)

You haven’t done this before. Ask, using my name, and you will receive, and you will have abundant joy.

1 John 3:22 (New Living Translation, Second Edition)

And we will receive from him whatever we ask because we obey him and do the things that please him.

1 John 5:14-15 (New Living Translation, Second Edition)

And we are confident that he hears us whenever we ask for anything that pleases him.

And since we know he hears us when we make our requests, we also know that he will give us what we ask for.

2. If we do GOD's will according to His Words, then He will answer our requests.

B. If you have faith (Hebrews 11:1-2, Hebrews 11:6, Matthew 21:21)

1. faith came from Greek: pistis meaning assurance, belief, reliance upon CHRIST for salvation

Hebrews 11:1-2 (New Living Translation, Second Edition)

Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see.

Through their faith, the people in days of old earned a good reputation.

Hebrews 11:6 (New Living Translation, Second Edition)

And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.

Matthew 21:21 (New Living Translation, Second Edition)

Then Jesus told them, “I tell you the truth, if you have faith and don’t doubt, you can do things like this and much more. You can even say to this mountain, ‘May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and it will happen.

2. If we have faith with no doubt, we can do the impossible.

C. You will receive it.

1. receive came from Greek: lambano meaning "to take", "to get hold of", "to seize", "to catch", "to obtain"

to take - Acts 2:23

Acts 2:23 (King James Version)

Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain:

Acts 1:20 (King James Version)

For it is written in the book of Psalms, Let his habitation be desolate, and let no man dwell therein: and his bishoprick let another take.

2. receive has the idea of taking it for yourself, applying it, meaning you have to take action or effort to receive, not just open hands and it will fall, though at some point there's an idea of catching, still requires an effort.

IX. CONCLUSION:

Pray according to GOD's will and by faith, take it.
