Prayer of Hezekiah!

2 King 20:2”Then he turned his face toward the wall, and prayed to the LORD, saying, 3"Remember now, O LORD, I pray, how I have walked before You in truth and with a loyal heart, and have done what was good in Your sight." And Hezekiah wept bitterly.”

King Hezekiah received the word of the Lord from prophet Isaiah that he was going to die, but Hezekiah instead of getting cynical and hysterical, turns his face toward the wall and calls out to the Lord for mercy and the Lord answers his prayer not only with healing but with a miraculous sign, literally making the sun go backwards in the sky. Sit up for a powerful Word today!

There are profound lessons behind this incident of king Hezekiah’s life, in the previous chapters we read of his awesome works of bringing the whole backslidden nation to God by breaking the idol pillars and teaching the commandments of God to the people who had forgotten their God. I guess the nation was in its worst spiritual decay like we live today! Is anybody listening? Bibles are forgotten, fasting and prayer is passé, Church is replaced with Sunday work and hearts are all about making more money. Christians and Christian homes are rotting is the right word to be used. It is now that a 25 year old man kick-starts some programs to bring them back to God. The name of the king is Hezekiah! Watch out, Hezekiah did not have a great father nor a good atmosphere to learn from, his father Ahaz did some of the worst things like he made his son pass through the fire, according to the abominations of the nations whom the LORD had cast out from before the children of Israel and he sacrificed and burned incense on the high places, on the hills, and under every green tree. (2 King 16:1,2) Young people! Listen! Stop giving excuses for your atrocious lives and make a decision to be a blessing for your family, church and nation.

Despite all his work for the Lord, Hezekiah fell sick and his days were numbered. How would you react? Tell me. King Hezekiah chose to turn away from negativity and distractions and turn his face towards the wall and pray. He did not say a five minute shallow prayer but the Bible says that he wept bitterly. God watches the intent of your heart! Further, Hezekiah is given instructions through prophet Isaiah "Take a lump of figs." So they took and laid it on the boil, and he recovered.” (2 King 20:7) Let us also humbly use the services of doctors and medicines when situation demands that we use them. God added 15 years to Hezekiah and blessed him with a miraculous sign as well. Dear friend, be encouraged today, God answers prayers and brings out miraculous healing in every area of your life. Glory to Jesus!

The operation theatre and ICU ward was next to the room where I was admitted in the hospital. On the day I was admitted I heard loud wailings, weeping, quarreling and arguments with the doctor, the new born baby girl was given just 2 hours to live! My heart went out for the baby that lay alone in the ICU glass table. I called my mom, gave her the prayer oil bottle that I always carry and asked her to anoint the baby and pray. Further during the day, the baby was brought into my room and I prayed over it and told the mother of the kid to trust in Jesus for a miracle. Miracle happened. The baby not only surpassed the time set by the doctors but her condition improved wonderfully and she bid me goodbye and was discharged from the hospital and taken home joyfully.

God answers prayers and does miracles!
