Summary: Preparation

Text: Luke 12:35-40

Subject: Preparation

Theme: Servant’s Preparation for Master’s Return

Proposition: All Christians should always be prepared as He comes.

T.S.: We need to be well prepared because the time now is near.

Introduction:

There was a young boy who gave his Father a riddle. The lad said “there are 3 frogs sitting on a big rock, and one of them decided to jump. Then how many frogs left on the rock? And his father immediately answered “of course 2”. The boy began to laugh and laugh and laugh! They are still 3 because the frog was just decided yet not jumped.

This very moment, we should listen carefully to the message before to react aggressively.

In the passage we had read awhile ago, we can find three Instructions that a servant needs to follow in order to be prepared when the Lord came back.

I. Be Available for Him

Available means able to obtained, used or reached.

a. Be Ready for Whatever Comes

There are many reasons that caused our spirituality to subside.

_Many Circumstances in life such as trials, problems, obstacles, temptations etc.

Sometimes we allowed these things to manipulate us but, let’s be aware and ready to face these and be balance in whatever might come.

_Be willing to accept and do His ways and directions.(positive response)

b. Be Dressed for Action

Imagine how foolish it would be for a soldier to go out in battle without his combat gear- no provisions, no weapons, and no navigational tools.

Eph. 6:10-20 the full Armor of God

God has already given us his spiritual armor, our job is to be aware of the equipment he has provided and ask him to dress us in it everyday.

Satan wants to destroy us as much as he wants to destroy us, so we’ve got to be focused on the battle and don’t get our passion fade.

II. Wait for His Return

a. If a guy courting a girl he need to be patient as he wait for the response and answer.

In our generation today, many people uttered promises but didn’t fulfill and doing it.

b. Waiting includes Faith, Perseverance, and courage.

c. The Story of a father who made a promise to his son to come back and get him…he failed to do it.

III. Keep Watching

a. Watch means stay awake intentionally. This means the act of keeping awake to guard, protect and to attend, and a state of alert and continuous attention, one that watches.

b. William Shakespeare said “lubha tayong natatangay ng takbo ng mundo” that means we are so much influenced by the world because of unawareness and in not staying to keep in watch.

c. I want to share my Kuya’s yahoo for me.

“Don’t date because you’re desperate. Don’t marry because you’re miserable. Don’t have kids because you think your genes are superior. Don’t separate because you think it’s fashionable. Don’t drink because you have troubles. Don’t gamble because you think you think winning is inevitable. Don’t philander because you think you are irresistible. Most likely you’re not. Don’t associate with people you can’t trust. Don’t cheat. Don’t lie. Don’t pretend. Don’t try to buy your way into the Kingdom of God. Don’t dictate because you’re smarter. Don’t demand because you’re stronger.

Conclusion:

Rhetorical Question

“Are you ready and prepared for the coming of the Groom? Or there’s still something that hinders you?”
