Summary: The rich man showed no concern for his family until he found himself in eternity with God. Let us be careful to win them while there is still time.

Winning Our Loved Ones To Christ

Intro: Our sign out front says it all: “The Only Thing We Can Take To Heaven Is Each Other.” The rich man died and in hell the first thing he thought about was his 5 brothers (Luke 16:28). Death has a way of helping us see our priorities in a different way.

I. The Difficulties of Ministering to our Loved Ones

A. The spirit of familiarity

1. Jesus with his family Mt. 13:55

B. The Perfect Jesus in “imperfect” earthly vessels (2 Cor. 4:7)

II. Ministering in Love and Truth

A. Love Gives (Jn. 3:16)

B. Truth Lives (Gal. 2:14)

III. Tell the Story

A. We are “witnesses” (Acts 1:8)

B. Lady at well (Jn.4:29)

IV. Preach the Gospel of Christ

A. God in Christ (2 Cor. 5:17)

1. Ministry of reconciliation given to us

1a. Man is LOST

B. Christ in Us (Col. 1:26)

2a. Man is FOUND

C. The Church in the World (Jn 17:14)

3a. Man FINDS others!

Conclusion: Though it is most difficult to minister to those in “our own country” the rewards are well worth the prayer and sacrifices necessary to win them to Christ.
