Summary: KNOW THE REALITY OF OUR REDEMPTION IN CHRIST. KNOW THE IMPORTANCE OF CONSISTENT BELIEVING. KNOW THE INTEGRITY OF GOD WHO HEARS OUR PRAYERS.

"These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.

Now this is the confidence that we have in Him that if we ask anything according to His will, he hears us.

And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked for Him."

INTRODUCTION:

David had established his confidence in God so he believed and he had spoken.

I. KNOW THE REALITY OF OUR REDEMPTION IN CHRIST. V. 13

"we have eternal life"

Colossians 1:12-14

v. 12 - we are partakers of our inheritance in Christ

v. 13 - this verse does not say God is going to deliver us

v. 14 - we have been redeemed through His blood

II. KNOW THE IMPORTANCE OF CONSISTENT BELIEVING. V. 13

The only fight the believers is called upon to fight is the fight of faith. I Timothy 6:12

Faith is measured by our confession.

If you talk about your doubts and fears, you’ll destroy your faith. But if you will speak words that line up with the word of God, you will increase your faith, you will change your circumstances and you will receive the answers to your prayers.

Note: There was no inconsistency in David’s faith and confessions against Goliath.

III. KNOW THE INTEGRITY OF GOD WHO HEARS. V. 14-15

We know that He hears us.
