Summary: AS CHILDEREN OF GOD WE MUST BE PREACHERS OF THE GOSPEL BUT WE MUST NOT EVER FAIL TO BE MINISTERS OF THE GOSPEL AS WELL.

(Luk 10:30) And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead.

(Luk 10:31) And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.

(Luk 10:32) And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side.

(Luk 10:33) But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him,

(Luk 10:34) And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.

(Luk 10:35) And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee.

I CAN RELATE

The man had been robbed, humiliated, wounded, forsaken, and he was half dead.

I know what it is to have something precious and to have it all taken away, to feel like Satan and the world have robbed you.

Before Christ I knew humiliation, and I knew what it was to be wounded, for I was bruised and battered daily by sin.

I knew what it was to trust in someone and to be rejected and left for dead(spiritually speaking).

I had feeling in my hands, feet, and I knew emotion, and felt hunger and thirst. I was alive outside as a man but on the inside I was dead in the ditch of life. I couldn’t feel conviction, I couldn’t feel the joy, love, peace, contentment that you only find in Christ Jesus who is life, the only true lasting life. I was a walking dead man.

I was waiting in the ditch half dead, waiting for religion to pull me out, for a friend to pull me out, but all failed, and I remained humiliated, robbed, wounded, and forsaken in a state of death by sin.

PRIEST the EXPERT of the LAW

The priest was a holy man, he was expected to remain pure and sanctified from sin, he no doubt was just simply trying to live right and according to the law.

PRIEST and the DEAD v.30)

(Num 19:11) He that toucheth the dead body of any man shall be unclean seven days.

Maybe this is why he crossed over to the other side of the road. I simply just did not want to take the chance of being involved in sin. He may have been afraid of the dead.

(1Pe 2:24) Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

(1Pe 2:25) For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.

Thank God that he did not forget the dead.

There are those in the world (family, friends , co-workers) that are in seemingly bad situations, and sinful states, that sometimes we are afraid to be involved with, but church people don’t get saved when the Body of Christ the Church of God walk away to the other side of the road.

SOULS are WON on the OTHER SIDE OF THE ROAD

Souls are not won in the safety and security of our church house, and our four walls. Souls are not won in the safety of your recliner at home, and souls are not won in you parties and groups, but souls are won right were they are , not were you are. I dare you to cross over to the other side were evangelist only dare to go.

2 GREATEST COMMANDMENTS

(Mat 22:37) Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

(Mat 22:38) This is the first and great commandment.

(Mat 22:39) And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.

(Mat 22:40) On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

Sometimes just as the Priest we can attempt to become experts of the law and try to fulfill all of the word in our lives and completely miss the objective. That is legalism, and it does not save souls. While trying to do every thing right the EXPERT missed the two greatest commandments. Simplify your attempts to be righteous and walk in the righteousness of Christ Jesus. Quit trying to meet up to a standard and let Love be your standard in all that you do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(1Jo 3:17) But whoso hath this world’s good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?

Meanwhile a man a soul was dieing in the ditch.

LEVITE - Critic

V.32) came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side.

God helps those who help themselves

Shouldn’t have been out of the will of God

We ask, “how do people live like that? The same way you did, in sin!!!!!!!!!!

Don’t bring criticism and condemnation to the seen of sin but bring Christ.

(Exo 22:21) Thou shalt neither vex a stranger, nor oppress him: for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt.

Meanwhile a man a soul was dieing in the ditch.

Preachers and Ministers

(1Co 1:21) For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.

I believe there needs to be more preachers, someone that will consistently tell you were you are living, and without fear, favor, or respecter of person tell you what the word of God says, but don’t let the Gospel stop at just preaching, but let us become ministers of the Gospel.

Even as a child I have always wanted to be a preacher, I am not sure why, but I am sure it had something to do with the power of the preacher. I always loved the way the preacher held himself and the strength in his voice, the way the thundered down the words of the almighty God. The preacher to me always was Gods man. I have spent most of my life trying to be a preacher. I remember my earliest days preaching, I always thought how great I would be if I could just preach for just 15 min. then I thought if only now I could preach for 30min, then a hour, and then I thought how important it would be if I could preach for a hour and my sermon would be more effective, and I remember the feeling of satisfaction as after a hour of preaching my heart out people would come and tell me what a great job I did, it was then I realized I was a preacher.

Though I should have been satisfied I realized though I was a preacher I really had done anything for any one else but mainly my own needs had been met.

It was then that I heard the small still voice, “ I really not looking so much for a preacher as much as I am a minister.

Preachers preach and inform others.

Ministers apply and aid others.

Many people feel great at church but what do they receive out of the church house.

Sinners feel conviction and are saved many times at church. But what about the sinner who’s situation of sin does not allow church attendance those souls are not won by the Priest ( Expert of the Law) or the Levite ( Critic) who pass by the wounded on the other side of the road but it is the Good Samaritan who will not pass by with their Holiness but will come to their aid right were they are and minister to them right were it hurts. That is our calling and our election to be ministers of the Gospel, Ambassadors for Christ.

GOOD SAMARITAN

v.33) Compassion- understanding and relating, with a desire to help

(1Co 6:9) Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,

(1Co 6:10) Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

(1Co 6:11) And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

Christ not only DIED but he FELT OUR PAINE AND SORROW!!!!!

How much more should we the servants of Christ desire to feel for others.

(Heb 4:15) For we have not a high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.

(2Co 5:21) For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

v.34) Healing

bound up his wounds, (people have been wounded)

Sometimes we in witnessing expect the masses to just fall down and except Christ as their savior. To begin acting like you and I, to dress like you and I, to talk like you and I, but you need to remember they have been wounded and before healing can occur first we must stop the bleeding of sin.

(Luk 4:18) The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

(Luk 4:19) To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.

and poured in oil, and wine

Pouring in oil and wine - Which when well beaten together are one of the best balsams that can be applied to a fresh wound.

Many times in scripture we find that oil represents the anointing and wine represents life and vitality. In a cense just as the Samaritan poured oil and wine to heal, Christ poured anointing and life and vitality into you and I.

Only Christ can stop the bleeding of sin

Accentuate the Positive

In revival services, a young evangelist preached the severity of God’s judgment on many of societies’ ills. In the spirit of love, the older and wiser pastor approached him after a service and instead of showering compliments on him, said simply, "Young man, don’t kick the darkness, turn on the light."

v.35) Nurtured Him
