Rev. 1:18

Intro: The fact is, that our Lord is risen…

There are some things that happened while Jesus was three days in the tomb.

The whole life of Jesus is miraculous

His Birth

Jesus has always been.

Gen. 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

John 1:1-5

1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

2The same was in the beginning with God.

3All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

4In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

5And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

He resigned his deity to become man…

John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

Phil. 2:5-11

5Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

6Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:

7But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

8And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

9Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:

10That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

11And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

He had to cocoon himself in the flesh of man…

He humbled himself…even to the death of the cross…

Old Testament saints where covered by animals blood…

Their sins were rolled ahead…for one year…

Heb. 11:13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.

They died in faith…

But now there was going to be a redeemer…

One that forgives sins

Jesus came as a lamb…to take away the sins of the world…

It was not enough…

To pass by a funeral possession and stop it and raise that little boy back to life and restore him back to his mother…

To stand at the entrance to the tomb of a friend and call Lazarus back to life…

That won’t save you…

To take 5 biscuits and 2 minnows and feed 5,000 men not including their wives or children…then the 12 disciples gather 12 baskets of the scraps…

It was not enough for Him to stop and heal that woman with the issue of blood…

That won’t save you either…

Not enough:

For Him to walk on the water

For Him to cleanse the leaper

For Him to open the eyes of the blind

For Him to set the captives free

That will not save you!!!

What the world was in need of was a Savior…

A Savior that would die on the cross of Calvary…

A Savior that would give his life for a ransom…

A Savior that would shed his blood…

So that our sins could not be rolled ahead but that they would be forgiven…

So that we might stand redeemed in Him…

We needed more than a healer…and healing for our bodies…

We needed more than a miracle worker…

We needed a Savior

One that could die and rise again…

One that was victorious over death, hell and the grave.

Listen friend:

There is not anybody too lost…

Too far gone…

Too much in sin…

That the glorious light of God can’t shine through…

They are not too far on drugs…

Too far on alcohol…

That God can’t save them…

You may look then in the eye and it looks like nobody is at home…but God can still reach them…

1. He went to the cross to buy my salvation…

Isaiah 53:4Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.

5But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

He paid the supreme price for mankind…

He paid it all…

Mt. 12:40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale’s belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

2. He died for our redemption…

Though his body was hanging on the cross…the word says that he gave up the ghost…

His body was still on the cross…but his spirit and soul went into the regions of the dammed…

Acts 2:31 He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption.

That his soul was not left in hell…

(You can’t leave somewhere where you have not been)

His Spirit and Soul plunged into the regions of hell…

He tasted the flames of hell…

He took our place…

Isaiah 53:9-12

9And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth.

10Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand.

11He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.

12Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors

He made his grave with the wicked…

He was an offering for sin…

He paid it all…

He found Lucifer and he bruised his head…gave him a thumping of a lifetime…

Gen 3:15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

When there is bruising taking place…there is a thumping going on…

1. He conquered hell…

He walked to the gates of hell…they had to let him go…because he had not sinned…Hell could not hold him…

Satan called out…to death…death hold on to him…don’t let him go…

Death replied: he is here…in the tomb…He is wrapped up in grave clothes…

Jesus proceeded on to Paradise…

According to the story of the rich man and Lazarus we know that Paradise and hell was near each other…

The only thing that separated it was a great gulf…

So when Jesus walked out of hell He then went into paradise…

Paradise was the place of the departed righteous…those who died in faith not yet having received the promise…those who were covered by animal’s blood.

He preached to the captives…

John 19:34 But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water.

Zec. 12:10 Spirit of grace and supplication…

10And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.

There is Moses… “Moses who are you looking for?” “The I am that I am”

Ezekiel who are you looking for? The wheel in the middle of the wheel…

Jeremiah who are you looking for? The fire shut up in my bones…

Isaiah who are you looking for? The one who when he spoke the post of doors moved…

David who are you looking for? The one that allowed my heart to burn with in me.

John the Baptist who are you looking for? The one whose shoes I am unworthy to unbuckle.

Sir…you…don’t I know you…Who are you looking for…I am looking for the just man… who told me that today I would be with Him in paradise.

Jesus replied and said: I am the one you are looking for… I come to set you free…

Paradise was moved that day…

Mt. 27:52 And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose,

53And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.

Eph. 4:8

8Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.

9(Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?

10He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)

2 Cor. 5:8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.

The devil cries out…Death hold on to him…do all you can to hold on to him…

On that resurrection morning…The devil called out…hold on to him death…

Death said: Lucifer I can’t hold him…any longer…

His body is beginning to warm…

His temperature is rising…

Something is happening…

His alive…his alive…

Inside this tomb…

Lucifer calls out to the grave…

Grave hold on to him…don’t let him out…

Keep him in there…

Grave: says: something is happening…I can’t hold him…the stone is being rolled away…He’s alive…he’s alive…

He came out of the tomb…

Rev. 1:18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.

1 Cor. 15:51

51Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,

52In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

53For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.

54So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.

55O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?

56The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.

57But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Jesus conquered it all!!!

I am victorious even when you don’t feel victorious…

Because Jesus paid it all…

1 Cor 2:8

7But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:

8Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.

9But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.

10But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.

IF Satan would have known what was taking place…he would have tried to protect him…

Jesus conquered it all !!!
